I’ve dined here three times before and was really looking forward to this visit. Unfortunately, my experience as a solo diner left much to be desired.
When I arrived, I was told there were no outside tables available and was asked to wait inside. As I waited, I noticed two other walk-in couples were promptly seated outside at tables where guests had just left.
I was then offered a bar seat, but it was the worst spot possible, facing the bar with a wall behind, blocking all light. I decided to walk out and noticed two tables had just become available. When I asked to be seated there, I was told they were reserved, despite knowing they don't take reservations unless you're a hotel guest.
The visit on 8/8/24 was disappointing, and I couldn’t help but feel that I wasn’t given the same level of attention or care because I don’t speak Russian. The lady in the blue floral dress at the front desk didn’t seem concerned at all. Basically told me we are very busy and your only choice is the empty bar, where there were 0 customers...
Read moreIn the heart of Saint Petersburg, with a wonderful view on the Saint-Isaac's cathedral, Restaurant Siastie has fulfilled its implicit promess (Siastie = happiness). We came in for a hot chocolate awaiting a bus, and eventually returned for the two next suppers. Whether you just wish a hot chocolate/coffee, or breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. When you enter this restaurant all sorrow drops from your shoulders. Wonderfully delicious dishes, friendly and courteous personnel, comfortable chairs, couches and tables, a warm atmosphere. Everything invites you to come back (and that's what we did), and this reason to return includes the friendly waiter Mila Rahmaninova. Really an overall 5 stars is my quote and all compliments to Shiastie's director who obviously does a great job maintaining this warm ambiance, linked to quality ingredients and personnel :-) Shiastie counts like 50% in our Saint-Petersburg stravel being a...
Read moreCame with family of about 4 people in total. We had a reservation prior to coming and specially asked for a seat next to the windows, as the view is said to be magnificent. Arrived in time and were promptly lead to our place - a small circular table next to a wall, with very little access to the windows. The food took about 30 - 40 minutes to come, despite the small array of people. The paté was quite good, though served with too little bread. We ordered a caesar salad, which was covered with three pieces of bread and when that was taken out of the plate, we were left with quite a sad looking pathetically small pile of greens and an egg; as though the function of the bread was to hide the lack of food under it. We were quite pleased with the salmon and avocado sandwich and would definitely recommend. The same could be said about the banana milkshakes. Overall a decent but not overwhelmingly...
