Brisket — Restaurant in Palace District

So I was super impressed by this place. As someone who frequently visits BBQ restaurants in Texas I can tell you this place really holds it’s own as a bbq joint. The brisket melted in my mouth and has great flavor. With the flavors from the smoke and what the meat was seasoned with I found myself not needing any sort of dipping sauce. The wait staff was super helpful in getting me in (I walked in off the street with no reservation and it was packed wall to wall). One of the waitresses took my cell number and texted me in WhatsApp when there was space at the bar for met to sit. The bartender spoke English impressively well and the owner even took the time to chat with me about his place, it’s history, and exactly how he came to open a smoke house in St. Petersburg....

2021 I visited this place twice in three days.. I had rated this place to serve the world's best Burnt End.. I couldn't wait to come back..

But.. what a disappointment and waste of time it turned out.

The food.. honestly, I don't know how to say.. it is not b.b.q. for certain. You cannot take the roasted (or maybe sous vide) piece of pork belly from the refrigerator, grill a little, pour the bbq sauce on.. and call it bbq pork belly.

Burnt End is not in the menu anymore. Beef brisket..waiter suggested not to order cus it was not tender, or maybe simple didn't have it? The used to be delicious dark burnt baby potato was substituted with the boiled sauteed and salted baby potatos.

Lovely and unexpected type of place to find in Saint Petersburg. Ordered the jerky for a starter and it tasted how’d you expect salty and chewy so right there they knocked it out of the park. After we ordered a platter of different meats that feeds 2-3. It came with a choice of sides, we went with potatoes and vegetables. The meats were ribs, brisket, and two different type of sausages. Also we’re some coleslaw, pickles, pickled jalapeños and onions. I imagine that there is not much BBQ culture in Saint Petersburg or Russia as a whole, but what you get here is pretty close and won’t disappoint. Everything was good...
