Nice place with a cozy vibe. Good decor, more upscale than your typical izakaya which makes sense since this isn’t really a typical izakaya. The menu features a good selection of small plates and some sushi; the yakitori options were pretty limited, maybe 6 choices, but we liked what we ordered, especially the chicken meatball. The udon broth was solid, very hearty, and the eggplant was fantastic. Coconut features heavily in the desserts, which we found a bit odd, not much variety if you don’t want any coconut in your mouth, but lucky for us they had mochi and green tea ice cream. Service was overall good, but at times a bit off (waiter refused to pour beer into a normal glass as opposed to a wine glass, citing that “it opens up the bouquet better” - we’re not drinking Chateau Petrus here, buddy, relax.) Loved every bit of it, it was just amazing. The food was incredible, alike the staff and the beautiful interiors and Japanese atmosphere of the restaurant. I really enjoyed their wide offer and variety of hand made and authentic Japanese traditional dishes, along with more sophisticated, but still authentic, variations to most of the classics of Japanese cuisine; shout out for their great selection of cocktails as well.
