This is a place that signals very strongly 'steak and beer for steak and beer lovers' . But we had (not so great) dinner before and wanted only to have some small things. With this in mind read about our experience: Overall the service was excellent. The waiter spoke Russian and English. He gave good explanations about the beers even if for one beer he mixed up Austria and Germany 🤷🏻♂️😀 My first choice would have been fried vegetables with hummus. Unfortunately those were not available. So I took cucumber gazpacho and my partner had vitello tonnato. We were advised to take some bread, which was a good advice as the portions were small. For desert I ordered cheesecake which should have come with popcorn as a special variety. And that is the big issue here with the food: Everything comes in some kind of special variety. Someone here has many ideas and few of them seem to be great. Who ever it is: please don't. These dishes have proven themselves in their traditional form. Let me elaborate on that: The Vitello tonnato was BBQ style, so it tasted weird. The meat was good and also the tuna sauce, so why? The bread was good and roasted, it came with butter that was somehow aromatized with smoke/BBQ. Too much, too strong. A simple good butter would have been enough. Cucumber Sorrel Gazpacho, that's already something a little off from the traditional Gazpacho. But someone had the idea to put a scoop of lemon ice-cream in it. A funny idea, it didn't spoil the soup, but I'm no ten year old, you don't have to sell me vegetables with adding ice-cream. The soup itself was good by the way. 😋 Now for the cheesecake with caramel ice-cream and popcorn. What cake? Where is the cake? I was searching desperately but only found some biscuits decorated with a cream from condensed milk, sugar and maybe a little Philadelphia. On top of it sat a scoop of ice-cream and the whole composition was decorated with caramel popcorn. Interesting but no cheesecake 😢
Drinks were good but expensive. The standard Austrian beer is sold for 500 rubels. The local lager was cheaper but totally boring, like US lagers.
Overall I might go there again and try some...
Read moreI recommend to book beforehand! We went for dinner and it was very full, a lot of the tables were booked too. The waitress was very nice and could understand some english too.
We got AC/DC and it was amazing. Very good portion for 4-5, you get to taste a little bit of everything, both meats and sides. The red meats were so tender and the turkey was perfectly cooked as it was succulent and wasn’t bland at all. Overall, it was such a fulfilling meal!
Forgive the differing qualities of the pictures posted. We didn’t get the best seats so it was hard to take a good picture as we got a dimly lit table haha
We also ordered the mango panna cota (sorry no pictures) which was the best! A bit sour so it cut through all the sweet bbq sauce. The creme brulee was a bit too eggy, and the strawberry bomb...
Read moreVisited the restaurant twice over the last two years (year apart) and was half expecting that I didn't remember my first visit correctly, but if anything the service and food was even better.
We had a party of 5 and had to squeeze in at a table for 4 as the place gets very busy, but it was fine. Ordered platter for 4-5 with brisket, sausages, pulled pork etc (don't recall the name exactly, think it was Texas platter) and everything tasted good, perhaps with the exception of corn. Service was very good, timely, always there to help and knowledgeable.
It's not the cheapest place to get dinner, but shouldn't be too expensive for tourists and well worth the money. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend the...
