I had a very disappointing experience at LE PETIT CHALET in Kigali. We went there today, and honestly, I will not be going back.
First, the food was extremely overpriced for what was served. We ordered several items from the brunch menu — an orange juice, an avocado toast (which was simply a piece of bread with avocado on top), a chicken dish, and pancakes. Unfortunately, none of the dishes were impressive, and the portions were very small. The overall value for money was simply not there.
On top of that, the bill came with a separate charge for tax clearly listed on the invoice — which made the final amount feel even more unreasonable considering the poor dining experience.
To make matters worse, the dining environment was truly unpleasant. We were seated right next to the kitchen, and the overwhelming smell of cooking oil completely ruined our appetite. The smell was so strong that it soaked into my freshly washed clothes — and even into my hair and skin. Now everything smells of grease and needs to be cleaned again.
Honestly, the interior is not well-designed or comfortable either. With such a poor atmosphere and basic facilities, I really don’t understand why this place tries to market itself as something special.
After this disappointing meal, I was still hungry because the portions were so small — so much so that when I got home, I had to cook an instant noodle just to feel full.
Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience and not worth the money or the effort. I would not recommend this place, and I certainly won’t be returning. Think twice before choosing...
Read moreWe always have an amazing dining experience at Le Petit Chalet Restaurant, located at Kacyiru neighborhood in Kigali. When you step in the restaurant, you’re greeted by an elegant ambiance of soft lighting, soft music, elegant décor and a great view that overlooks the skyline of the city of Kigali. From the outset, the service is impeccable. The servers are incredibly attentive, ensuring our every need was met. They also provide us with thoughtful recommendations without being intrusive. The service at this restaurant is probably the BEST in Kigali. The food - from the small plates & salads to the main course and to the dessert menu - is nothing short of extraordinary. And you will definitely be happy with the wine and crafted cocktails selections.
This, by far, is our favorite restaurant in Kigali.

Read moreVery honest comment: The ambiance was great, the view was great, the staff were great. The food was not bad but not great as anticipated. Overall, I found it quite salty, especially the blackened chicken pasta. I would recommend to order it with little salt, and then add as appropriate. The pasta was fresh (could tell it was hand made) and the sauce good but too salty. The seasoning in the chicken was very salty and also quite dry. Otherwise it would have been super. The best menu was the filet mignon, came exactly as ordered (medium) and was not salty but the topping on the fries was also very salty (chunks of salt combined with melted cheese). Otherwise it was super moist and soft on the inside. The lamb chomp in the mixed menu with (filet mignon and grilled chicken) was not bad but it did not taste...
