Filini Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Kimihurura

Unfortunately we were so disappointed about the quality of the pizza that we ate. First of all the dough of the pizza and its base is pre-maid. It was goodly cooked but the taste of so-called “mozzarella” cheese was just awful! Something very salty, with a taste of mixed melted different cheeses (strong like gruyere, raclette or fondue! You can see “half-yellow colored cheese in pictures). I could just forced myself to eat 2 slices and I stopped! My wife’s risotto was ok. When we complained about the pizza the chef and the manager came to apologize. They offered us a tiramisu (it was so so sweetened so we couldn’t eat again!). When we were waiting for the bill, a very strong burned fat smoke came from the kitchen (our dresses are still smelling burned fat!) which means kitchen aeration is bad… And on top of it, they have charged us the pizza that we complained and we haven’t eat… to resume; beware this restaurant if you don’t want your dinner...

This is an edited review: Having lived in Kigali for two years, I'm almost ashamed to admit this was only my second time to come here. Maybe it's because Filini is located in the Convention Center, a place not exactly famous for good restaurants. But, it is a good restaurant! Very good actually. We shared a few bruschettas and a few different pizzas, and they were all very good. Having been here twice now, I'm prepared to go as far as saying it's the best pizza in town! Service is also top notch in all ways possible. Friendly, quick and very responsive to customer needs. Awesome! 👏 The ambience is also nice, in spite of the location which isn't the most "romantic" or fashionable of places. The nicest restaurant in Kigali. Beautiful interior, lovely flowers on the tables and they light a candle for you. They do not have any vegan options on the menu, but they sent out the chef to discuss what to cook for me. They brought me pastry as an entree and made sure it was vegan. So the service was very good. The vegan food they made for me was ok, but not great. I wanted to eat the pineapple from the glass of my cocktail, but when I tasted it, I realized that it was not fresh.
