Java House is fast becoming one of my favorite hangout spots in Kigali.
I first visited after a workout session on a Tuesday and ordered their curry plate. The flavors were rich, and the portion was generous. It hit just right; warm, hearty, and satisfying without being too heavy. That first experience made me want to return.
So today, I went back with my friend Funmi for breakfast. The vibe in the morning was calm and peaceful , perfect for easing into the day. The total bill for two came to 22,000 RWF, which is reasonable for a full sit-down breakfast at a place with good service and ambiance.
Now let’s talk about the service. Ariane, who attended to us, was excellent. She was kind, attentive, and patient. She made sure we were comfortable, checked in without being intrusive, and even offered suggestions when we seemed undecided. Big shout-out to Ariane , service like hers makes people come back. Getting There from Anywhere in Kigali Java House Remera is located along the main KG 17 Avenue stretch in Remera. It's easy to access whether you're staying in the city center, Kimihurura, Kacyiru, or even further out in Nyamirambo or Kabeza.
Here’s how to get there: From Kigali City Centre: By Moto: Tell the rider “Java House Remera” or “Remera, Airtel building.” The ride should cost around 1000–1500 RWF depending on traffic. By Cab or Yego: Open the Yego app and set your destination to Java House Remera. You can also find it on Google Maps. A ride should cost about 3000–5000 RWF. By Bus: Head to the Remera bus stop from the city center or any nearby station. From there, it’s about a 3–5 minute walk to Java. From Kacyiru or Kimihurura: Moto: Fastest option. Costs 700–1000 RWF. Yego or Local Taxi: Budget around 2500–4000 RWF. Once you get close, look for the Airtel building in Remera , Java House is on the ground floor and hard to miss. There's some parking out front if you're driving or being dropped off.
The Atmosphere The café is clean, well-lit, and modern. You can sit indoors or on the outdoor patio. It’s a great place to meet friends, work, or enjoy solo time. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they don’t rush you out — you can sit and enjoy your meal or coffee in peace.
Menu Picks (So Far) Curry Plate — Spicy, filling, and flavorful. Breakfast Combo — Eggs, toast, sausages, and fresh juice. Avocado Toast — A clean and fresh option. Coffee and Tea — Freshly brewed and well made. I plan to try more on the menu soon.
Final Thoughts Java House Remera is a solid choice if you're looking for a clean, reliable, and welcoming place to eat in Kigali. Whether it's post-gym meals, breakfast with a friend, or a quick work session, this spot delivers on both food and service.
Again — shout-out to Ariane, who made our morning even better. I’ll...
Read moreIt is my first time in Kigali. Hava house was the first place I ate at. The service is amazing. I have been told the overall speed of service in Rwanda is slow but it is good here.
I enjoy the view from here. It is right by the convention center.
Java house is not a simple place where you simply go in, eat, stay for a while and leave. The overall ambiance created by the (very) friendly waiters, wonderful interiors, and Kigali’s quiet atmosphere makes Java House the perfect place to chill, eat, have good coffee and simply take in Kigali.
I have been going there alone for the second time now. They are consistent with their service and product. Expected from a franchise like Java House. They have met that expectation. Consistency is key.
Four Stars because I am yet to experience...
Read moreTerrible service. I ordered takeout when I was sitting there - crispy chicken salad. The chicken was hard and old, the salad not fresh at all and would you believe that they just threw the sauce in the takeaway box instead of putting it in its separate container. So of course by the time I got to the car, the sauce was spilling everywhere and I had no control of how much sauce to put in the salad because it was just everywhere. Very poor performance. I won’t even talk about how long it took for me to get served for the eat-in part of my time there. Based on my experience of Java in Kenya, you are letting...
