After an overnight flight from Brisbane we arrived in Apia at 6am. The hotel shuttle from the Amanaki Hotel (chargeable) was already waiting for us at the airport. We arrived at our hotel, which is only separated from the sea by a not busy road, just in time for breakfast, and were given a very warm welcome. We only booked this hotel for a few nights to explore Apia and the surrounding area, then we continued to the paradisiacal south of the island of Upolu. |When we had finished the delicious breakfast, we were informed that our room was ready, which was a great benefit after the overnight flight from Australia. The entire complex and the pool area made a very well-kept impression. Our room was functionally furnished, very spacious and had a nice terrace with direct access to the pool area. Since there were no elevators, we were very happy with a room on the ground floor. We used WiFi in the room for a fee. Breakfast was served at Amanaki Restaurant. |The location of the hotel was excellent, just a few minutes walk from the center of Apia. The cleanliness of the hotel, the beautiful pool in front of our terrace for a morning swim in the cool water and the super friendly staff convinced us. An amazing hotel to spend a few...
Read moreHave stayed at Amanaki on three occasions (2016 - 2018), for a week each stay. Great location close to main centre, very comfortable rooms (both standard and deluxe) at a reasonable rate, and the staff are friendly and professional. Swimming pool is always clean, and appears to be well maintained. The breakfast offering is great (fresh fruits, basics, etc. included free) with full cooked menu available, good options on dinner menu. The kitchen is also accomodating of requests.
I have only two main critiques/suggestions - complimentary water (at least one bottle per guest) should be supplied in the room fridge every day as it is not recommended that you drink the tap water in Samoa, and quality wifi should be included in room rate (despite this not being offered at nearest competitor). The lack of included wifi connection really is a disappointment (an inconvenience noticed immediately during first stay in 2016), especially as this is included standard in equivalent accommodation in Tonga. Surely this is a surprise (and setback) to many guests, as charging per hour for wifi was common practice...
Read moreKia Ora, I would like spread awareness of an incident that happened to my father (New Zealander). My dad finished work around 8-830pm working for there island, he was in abit of a rush to get some food (hungry as) get home have a shower and eat. This restaurant decided to speak with my father about his clothing! he ordered a take out as he knew he’s not wearing the correct clothing, just finished work. They judged him and he almost went without food last night. He wasn’t planning on eating in the restaurant he also wasn’t planning on going home getting changed and coming back as the restaurant would have been closed by the time. A staff member approached him with approval from “manager on duty” and told him (you’re not wearing the correct clothing to be eating here). Miscommunication with the person who took his order to begin with. As it strictly said “Takeout”. So my father was tired, hungry, dirty just come from work and this happened to him, wearing work uniform too. He got his food but overall poor behaviour from them towards my father. I’m...
