I have to admit that I have never been to the original Le Maschou in Cannes, but I have been to many French five stars restaurants and stakehouses in France and elsewhere; unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing and had terrible memories and experience.
The service and food quality in comparison to the price paid were never matching.
I had my booking @ 10:30 PM and left with my gust @ 11:30 PM, staying for one hour only is an evidence that the experience we had was basically bad. The same gusts that enter the restaurant left 5 minutes earlier.
To start with, I asked the waiteress about how they grade the steak doneness and wether it is "French standard" or other standards, and the answer was: it is a Saudi standard: so, I asked for medium well steak then I had a meat full of red colour. (I know the difference between RED and PINK)
When I go to a steakhouse I will always be expecting a big peice of meat; tender, juicy and full of flavour, what I had were something that is almost like slices of shawerma - BTW shawerma will taste way above what we ate.
The French fries that was served was not French! but it was OK. To be fair, the fig salad was delicious and the...
Read moreI woke up today reminiscing about how wonderful my experience was dining at this restaurant and this doesn't happen often here in Riyadh. Everything was perfect. The restaurant is located in the diplomatic quarter, one of the best areas in Riyadh, where it has a unique park like exterior with valet parking and a short walk into the place through a park like landscape. The interiors are much like some of my favorite restaurants in Europe, while small, it has enough space and gives you a homy feeling to it. The reception and service was so welcoming, helpful, swift, friendly, and their recommendations were spot on. The food was delicious. We ordered the Brésaola and Melon, fig salad, and edamame for starters and the Australian Black Onyx Tenderloin for the main with a side of Potato Puree with Truffle Oil and Fresh Grated Truffles, and Tiramisu for dessert. The prices are a bit on the high end but worth it considering what the market is for this tier of restaurants and the quality you're getting compared to others who are overpriced for no good reason. Give it a try and book in advance. Keep in mind they have a 2 hour seating policy which means you may be asked to leave for...
Read moreSo lets start from the wt carpet that ruined my wife’s dress and my own cloth.
We get seated the place is stunning and that is the only good thing about the experience, note that the outdoor area is full of cats that are noisy and annoying and keep fighting.
Food:
Corn Salad: The worst corn salad I have ever tried bland, tasteless and the corn itself is a very low quality corn.
Truffle Pasta: it wasn’t bad, but not great, the amount of oil on the pasta is something i have not seen before, the pasta itself is over cooked, the truffle tasted good though.
Salmon: Nothing wowed us just a regular salmon plate that you can get anywhere, the side potatoes were dry and bland, you could hardly cut it open with a knife let alone eating it.
They only have one bathroom for the whole restaurant and I had to wait for 12 minutes to use it and it was occupied by the restaurant staff.
Overall: Extremely overrated, Extremely overpriced for the quality of food and service. It’s a one star experience dressed to look as five stars nothing about my experience here is considered...
