Swagat Indian Vegetarian just performed the culinary equivalent of a Jedi mind-trick on my taste buds. One chapati thali in, and I’m already drafting a heartfelt apology letter to every chicken wing I’ve ever met. The fluffy-yet-toasty chapati is a warm hug from a carb-loving fairy, and the spread of curries, veggies, rasam, and papadum turns the humble metal tray into a full-blown flavour amusement park—no roller-coaster lines, just pure spice joy.
Highlights: • The dal? So comforting, it practically asked about my day. • The veggie korma? If velvet had a taste, this would be it. • The rasam? Imagine tomato soup got a PhD in sass and decided to party.
I left 100 % satisfied, 90 % convinced I could live happily ever after on plants alone, and 10 % wondering if chapati-scented cologne is a thing. Carnivores, beware: one visit to Swagat and you might find yourself Googling “how to break up with bacon.” See you on the...
Read moreThe food was fine. I say "fine" and not great because it was a bit cold when we had there. Though, they did warm it later after we had the first round but you could wait I guess until they warm it.
The restaurant has South Indian ala carte such as idli, dosa and some snacks. While for North Indian it has set thali and buffet. The buffet as of now is $11 which has 2 types of bread (wheat chapati and allo paratha), Panner sabji (could be kadai, masala depending on the menu), 2 more vegetables - this time it was brocolli and matar allo, sweet, raita, papad and dal. It has rice too - biryani and plain rice. Not at all bad for the money ($11) - so I would say its a value meal.
If you are somewhere in Jurong, then it could worth a visit but if you are traveling from far off, then you could compare it with other options from Little India. But overall the taste is good and you would not be disappointed...
Read moreWe discovered this hidden gem today and what a pleasant surprise it was. The west coast area of Singapore doesn’t have as many quality South Indian restaurants as I would like and traveling all the way to Little India was getting to be a chore. Swagat solved that issue for me and my family with its piping hot food with great quality and affordable prices. Maybe it’s the time we went at 9 am today that everything was super nice and fresh but something tells me that it should be good all around. They have special menu for certain days as well. Editing this after a year and maybe another 10 visits. We have tried almost every item on their menu, Nakshatri uncle also makes special things upon request 😅. Clearly a place where they belive in giving great food to...
