Panda — Restaurant in Bratislava

The food is mediocre, but all you can eat lunch for €7.50 doesn’t have me expecting much. The food (from fries to meat) is covered in seasoned salt. My teen boys were delighted by it, though, so that was nice!

The bathrooms were…not great. But the restaurant was clean. I like the charm of the mismatched plates.

But the 2 star service review comes because of their regard for my son with is both physically and mentally handicapped. He cannot chew and we asked to buy an a la carte bowl of rice for him - it would be all he would eat and only a small bit. We were told absolutely not, only buffet price, and that’s that.

Normally I understand policies, but this felt extreme and unnecessary. Europe in general doesn’t have the same approach to special needs and differences as the states do, which I’m aware of, but in Budapest, Lviv, and Kosice we have received much more thoughtful service.

We were very pleasantly surprised. The buffet is available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For just €9, there was a small but great selection of fresh dishes, sushi, and salads. The sushi was a bit rice-heavy but still quite good. The freshly prepared dishes were delicious, especially the chicken meals and curries. The fried items were rather average, but overall the food was tasty and satisfying. The staff were extremely friendly, and the atmosphere was quiet and family-like. We felt very comfortable there, mainly because the staff were hardly present and very unobtrusive. You have to get your own drinks and pay for them directly at the counter. The whole experience feels more like having a meal at a friend’s place rather than in a typical restaurant. In terms of flavor, freshness, and price, everything was just right. Definitely a small hidden gem...

The only good thing is the price! But for such a low price you cannot expect to have any quality. The service was inexistent. I asked for a beer the waitress showed me the fridge (I wanted a tap beer). Poor, very poor selection of sushi, and it was not good at all. The other plates had poor quality as well, rice was overcooked! The waitress was not speaking English! We went there just because we’ve seen a lot of good reviews, apparently they were all from friends and family! Someone in his normal state of mind cannot give 5 stars...
