We had 2 dinners in the restaurant.
The first one consisted of burgers and ribs. They were wonderful, very flavourful and big portions. The burger had a nice soft bun, a thick patty, and it was overall very juicy. The fries that came with it were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The ribs were fall of the bone, with a sticky glaze that was absolutely delightful. The side dishes brought some freshness to the heavy flavors. In one word, perfect meal!
The second day, though, wasn't as pleasant. We arrived at around 15:00, which i suppose is when they have the least workload and take the time to rest/ prep. We ordered fish and chips, nachos, and frappes. The fish was well cooked, moist inside with a great crunch on the tempura. The fries, however, were undercooked and were just soft and unflavored, unlike the first time we went. The nachos were okay. They didn't have a lot of toppings and also had a technical error in the menu. The ingredients state that there is ragout, which makes u believe that there is some type of "meat sauce," but it's actually a salsa/passata made with tomatoes and jalapeños. To conclude, i believe that it's a nice place. But our experience suggests that sometimes it lacks consistency. We still recommend...
Read moreOn a recent trip to Bratislava, we came here for some food. Very welcoming and warm décor. The menu doesn't have a lot of vegetarian options but they are easy to identify. I ordered the butternut squash soup and my friend had the duck pancake The soup was delicious. it was rich, warm, flavourful. slight spice and creamy. Very heart warming and filling we then ordered the plum dumpling. When we had eaten at other places we had seen on other table the dumplings were the size of a tennis ball so when this arrived, it was surprising how big this was. it was definitely big enough to share it was very homely,, lots of butter, warm, spongy and a lovely tart jam. The only downfall was the service. The server wasn't rude but wasn't as welcoming. We did have a lot of waiting before our order was taken and again at the...
Read moreClose to the University, Thema was a good dinner option. Recently renowated old Bratislava city caffe offered us good quality and reasonable prices. Chicken soup was really good with lot od noodles followed by salmon on rice with vegetables. Coffee at the end was good italian style espresso without extra explaining that espresso is not 0,5 dcl coffee, which is almost a routine in Slovakia, Hungary and Austria. The waiter, young and welcoming gentleman, we understood each other at first place. A comment to the owner - like in many places around, the bar staff is of adolescent age. A young lady waiter wore hot pants. Somebody should tell her that is not her piece of clothes even when she goes to the club. Both are not good for image if you wish to promote style and respect the history...
