Umelka — Restaurant in Bratislava

We were looking for vegetarian options so we ordered pasta that mentioned it had chilly. However it was way way too spicy and the waiters didn’t let us know and there was no indication in the menu as usually in EU menus. When we told them immediately that it is way too spicy the answer was -it seems fine to me - you should have read better!! I asked the manager and they said there is no manager here. Great. Young people with no hospitality mindset I suppose. It shouldnt be that hard to communicate when you serve and try to help customers by making sure they know what they will get. Or at least in the end...

Umelka is a fantastic spot with a friendly, laid-back atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks. We recently visited to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday, and I couldn’t help but think it would be the perfect venue for my own 50th! EN: We came in a larger group. Waiters have asked us to pay 2 euros per person to prepare a place for us. Ok, strange, but we have accepted that. Then we had few drinks (2-3, not more). And then it came. Some of us wanted to leave. You know, 25+ people, different preferences. And waiters, suddenly, became too dump to use as simple operation as the subtraction (basic school math, normally used in the most of the pubs all around the world). And they have asked all those 25+ people to collect money to pay one common bill. And advised us to ask colleagues for IBAN, you know, to send them money for 2-3 beers/drinks people had. Because they could not subtract.

SK: Prišli sme vo väčšej skupine. Ako prvé si obsluha vypýtala 2 eurá na osobu za to, že nám rozložia extra stoly. Divné, ale fajn, boli sme po konferencii a zobrali sme to. Potom sme si dali pár nápojov (2-3, nie viac). A potom to prišlo. Niektorí z nás mali chuť ísť svojou cestou, hotel, domov a tak. Poznáte to, 25+ ľudí, rôzne preferencie. Obsluha odrazu ohlúpla a zabudla používať znamienko mínus (čo je inak základná matematika, bežne využívaná v pohostinstvách naprieč planétou, v prípade záujmu rád spravím školenie). A pýtali si jeden spoločný účet za všetkých 25+ ľudí, s tým, že to máme zozbierať. A blahosklonne nám navrhli vypýtať si od kolegov IBAN. Viete, to aby sme mohli kolegom poslať na účet za tie 2-3 pivá/nápoje. Lebo obsluha nedokázala používať znamienko mínus.
