This experience was very interesting. Let's start with the good things - the food and the atmosphere. The food was very tasty, classic dishes done well. The highlights are the starters, definitely. The beef tartare is done incredibly well, with the fries being a 12/10. Same goes for the tuna, caesars salad and tomatoes with burrata. The warm starter was really nice, the mushrooms shined through. The main (schnitzel) again - a classic done well. The dessert seems a bit like an afterthought, but nevertheless tasty. The timings between the courses were a bit off - we waited for the mains about 35 minutes, which seemed a lot, but nothing to hold against them.
The atmosphere was very pleasant and professional, as expected for a place.
Now, the abysmal part - the service. Our server, Nejc, was the most inattentive, disrespectful, bored server ever. It all started well when we got our starters, because they got presented by the chef. Then the rest took a fast path downhill. The table besides us got treated with respect, checked on promptly, and pampered. Us, on the other hand, never got any of that. When we waited for food we got no apologies, and our glasses were obviously empty, while the table next to us got apologies after waiting maybe three minutes, and constant refills... I had a chipped wine glass, which was just swapped with no apologies. We never got a whiff of a wine card, even though we obviously seemed interested in them. We got offered a Pinot Noir by Marjan Simičič - I could not even try the wine it just got poured - I hated the wine but well, I couldn't know that without tasting it. To put it shortly, we were left rotting in the corner like a corpse, while others got pampered.
And at the end Nejc asked us if we want to "split the bill"... seriously???
It is just depressing that Nejc singlehandedly ruined some amazing food for us. We felt wholly disrespected because of our age which is just unprofessional and disrespectful. We're sadly never stepping foot near this...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Birdie, and I can confidently say it offers the best food and service in the city! For the past three years, we've been visiting Ljubljana specifically to experience this remarkable restaurant, and it never disappoints.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality that set the tone for the evening. The menu at Birdie is a delightful blend of flavors and creativity. Each dish we ordered was not only beautifully presented but also a feast for the taste buds. The ingredients were fresh, and the chef's attention to detail was evident in every bite. Whether it was the perfectly seasoned appetizers or the exquisite main courses, I was consistently impressed.
The service was equally remarkable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food. They made excellent recommendations and ensured that our dining experience was flawless. It’s rare to find such a dedicated team that truly cares about their guests.

We were prepared for good food, but not this good 🤤🤤. It really was an out of this world experience. The cold appetizers were amazing - their signature beef tartare was really good, buratta also awesome, parmigana oh my god 🙌🏻... The warm appetizer ravioli with pecorino cheese and figs - oh my lord ... I really don't like pecorino and figs, but this was soooo good, I really don't know how they did it.
