Our worst meal in Slovenia! Had dinner here on a Sunday evening. They had a 3 course menu which you can take with either fish or meat. For vegetarians no option therefore (strange, also the a la carte had hardly vegetarian options). I took the fish menu and my wife could not take that due to food allergies (nuts, shrimps). Ordered therefore two dishes from the a la carte. My wife wanted the burrata from the menu but we were told that that dish was only in the menu and not separately to be ordered (inflexible). First came 3 greetings from the kitchen, of which my wife could only eat one. No flexibility in the kitchen to make something different for her. How difficult is it to serve e.g. some cured ham.
My first dish from the menu was the burrata, but in fact this was mozzarella, which is different. An Italian would kill you if you serve mozzarella when you claim it is burrata. Main dish I had was octopus, which was ok but not very special/good. My wife had a pasta with some fish (3 very small pieces), which was tasteless. She had a few bites but finished after that. How can somebody cook so bad that he is able to ruin a simple pasta dish (which costed €22!). We mentioned this to the waiter who later came back telling us that according to the chef it was an ok dish.
Accompanied with the meal we had a mature Rebula of 2014. Taste was ok, but after 60% of the bottle it contained huge amount of sediment. We could not drink the rest. Also here confronted the waiter who had contact with the manager (by phone?). Result was that the bottle of wine was not put on the final bill.
Next to us was another table who had serious issues with the quality of the food. My assumption was that on this Sunday the real chef was out and some inexperienced person had to do the job in the kitchen. Of three weeks in Slovenia this was...
Read moreSpectacular experience. The service was really exceptional and the food was terrific. I’m a big foodie and do a lot of research when traveling to make sure I get the best possible dining experience when visiting new places and at so glad I chose Manna for dinner in Ljubljana. I went with my entire family (7 adults and 3 small children) and we were treated like royalty. Our waiter was hustling the whole time, even worked up a good sweat making sure we were having a great experience and had everything we needed. He also made excellent wine recommendations and food suggestions. We all shared several starters so we could get samples of a lot of menu items, but be aware that the starters are quite small so if you plan to share like we did, you’ll need to order a few of each. The black seafood raviolis were really exceptional and the wild boar ragout with dumplings was surprisingly good. I had an off-menu special as my main dish – wild boar cheeks sous vide cooked for 40 HOURS and topped with a tasty sauce with red currants, dried raspberries and fresh veggies. It was really really special and very memorable. My brother in law ordered a different pork dish and had to wait a while for his meal because the chef over cooked the first one and didn’t want to serve anything that wasn’t perfect. I really respect and appreciate that from a chef. Only the best will do. As consolation for the additional wait, the waiter picked out a special red wine and served our family several glasses of that wine on the house. The deconstructed apple strudel desert was creative, fun and of course delicious. Please do yourself a favor and give Manna a visit in Ljubljana. You’ll...
Read moreFood - 4,5/5 Ambient - 4,5/5 Service - 3,5/5 Price - it costs more than normal restaurant, but food surprising didn't cost that much (if we look at similar restaurants). The drinks are pricey.
Husband was here a few times before, for me it was a first time. In January they had 15% off on menus. Lunch was exceptional. Food was amazing. Lovely presented and decorated. Don’t have any complains. We were trying some new things. Even vegetable menu was very good. But it should have been something more...We took the bigger menu, (greetings from the kitchen, cold plate 2x, hot plate, main, deserts). All it cost around 180 euros, half of that was drinks. Watch for drinks, they are pricier.
Menus are added in pictures.
Ambient is wonderful, a little bit darker, but tasty. Parking is right beside the restaurant, but it can be always full. It's one way street and always busy.
Service was good, but it could be better. He explained all about food, what are we getting… There was some mix with menus, we manage resolve the issue. Waiter didn’t top up the wine, when the glass was empty or ask if we would like more. In this kind of restaurant, waiters should wear black pants and not jeans. It didn’t look professional. We visit a lot of restaurants similar to these and there are some rules, which should be obeyed. But all over all, it was amazing experience and we...
