It is such a pleasure to share my experience about this great place and people who run it. The museum is full of original and well kept things having belonged to Jože Plečnik, and all of that provides a wonderful insight into a way of life and personal philosophy of the most important Slovenian and one of the most appreciated Europian architects. A visitor is able to choose between regular visit and a guided tour with just a few euros price difference. I chose the guided tour and I have to say all the best about Tea, our guide. She is approachable, full of information and she knows very well how to present them in an interesting way. The tour is guided both in Slovenian and English successively. You don’t need to have a previous knowledge either about architecture, or about Plečnik personally, but in my opinion, it is recommendable to gain at least few basic information, which is quite easy in the era of google. The regular price of guided tour is 9 euros, and I know there is a discount for students and elderly people. I highly recommend visiting this wonderful little world of the great artist and exceptional...
Read moreVisiting the Plečnik House was one of the highlights of our time in Ljubljana. This beautifully preserved home and studio offers a rare, intimate look at the life and work of Jože Plečnik, the visionary architect who shaped so much of the city’s character.
The guided tour is excellent—thoughtful, informative, and full of insights into Plečnik’s creative process, personal quirks, and deep commitment to human-centered design. Walking through his modest living quarters, workshop, and carefully curated garden feels like stepping directly into his world.
What makes the visit truly special is how much of Plečnik’s personality is still present in the space. From custom-designed furniture to architectural sketches and models, every detail reflects his philosophy and ingenuity.
This is a must-visit for anyone interested in architecture, design, or Slovenian cultural history. Even if you’re only vaguely familiar with Plečnik, you’ll walk away with a deep respect for his legacy and a fresh appreciation for how he reimagined urban space in a...
Read moreThis little treasure of a museum which is situated in the architect’s own home is an absolute must for anyone interested in architecture and in the life of Jože Plečnik who shaped the face of today’s Ljubljana tremendously. There is an informative exhibition about Plečnik’s life and works which is definitely worth seeing. In order to get a real insight into the architect’s personality and his ideas I highly recommend the guided tour. Our guide was absolutely wonderful, extremely knowledgable and amazingly patient (I bombarded him with tons of questions!). The house itself is wonderfully renovated with lots of love for details that enables the visitor to get a glimpse into the character and daily life of this...
