Cofi Gqeberha — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

This is a very well designed and interior decorated spot. My friends and I visited for dinner on a Friday night. Before entering, we were asked for our IDs which was unexpected.

I ordered a light meal and found it quite filling.

The drinks were the best part of our experience. Their cocktails are beautifully made and great for pictures. There's also lots of drinks options. Please note that they add in a service fee to your bill. It's 10% of your meal so like a normal tip but if you'd like to add more you're welcome to.

My only real concern is the restrooms. While they're beautiful, they are labelled male and unisex. I find this to be a safety hazard for women and I'm disappointed that they would take that route in a country like South Africa, knowing the prevalence of GBV women face. I think they would do themselves good by changing it to accommodate an exclusively...

Never in my life have I received such poor and terrible service before even entering an establishment. My friend and I were stopped at the door by the bouncers and asked for our ID. When my friend couldn’t show them her ID (because she got robbed), we produced another source of identification. Unfortunately, the lady in the picture with dreadlocks was so rude and disrespectful to the point where she said we are coming to look for men with money and we should leave. This place has a lot of potential but treating potential customers with such impudence is bad for business. We had to go to another restaurant since we were chased away like dogs before even entering. I still cannot understand why she would say we were there to look for men with money. That’s basically calling us wh*res. Never stepping foot there ever again....

The restaurant opened a while ago (fairly new) , the place looks amazing, the interior decor is absolutely on point, the staff is really helpful and willing to assist in all queries. My friend ordered Beef Ribs with grilled veggies, the dish was quite tasty I wish I had ordered that but I had ordered the oxtail for over three hundred rands, I ordered oxtail as a safe option as this was my first time there, yhoo no I should have gone for the ribs because no that was not it, the dish was yellow with turmeric , all I could taste was turmeric and I hate turmeric.😭😭 I’m definitely going to give the place another try, I will still order the Oxtail and see....
