BALKAN BURGER — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

This review is going to be the longest I've ever written. Went to the restaurant because I was attracted by the posters/pictures of burgers I saw next to the entrance. The burgers looked sloppy and greasy and delicious.

My family and I went in. It was empty with only two customers seated - one with two toddlers, and another who was alone. So we were seated at our table and one of the waiters gave us the menu. We asked for a few minutes look at it. We then ordered both our drinks and food at the same time. Some of us opted for milkshakes, while others wanted fruit drinks. First disappointment was them not having ingredients for milkshake. We then all opted for the fruit drinks, except my sister, who wanted coke. On the menu some of the items were not available because, according to the waitress, they're only available during winter time. I don't know why they didn't think to remove them on the menu until such time they are available (another disappointment).

Drinks came and we waited for the food. A 30-minut wait! At that point, we were a hungry, especially my mother, who even wanted us to actually leave.

I called the waitress to the table and asked how long we had to wait for our food. She told me it was still prepared as there was another 'big' order they were preparing. She went to the kitchen to check and came back to tell us to wait two more minutes. Two minutes passed, and the food hadn't arrived. At that point I was ready to leave too. But we waited.

Food eventually arrived. Beautiful burgers for the three of us, and a dish my mother ordered (forgot the name but it also looked delicious. Pictures attached). My burger tasted deliciously, but it was dry. I had to constantly down it with my drink. My mother's dish was burnt at the bottom (another disappointment).

I'm always disappointed when the bill doesn't come with treats (thumbs down). Have to commend them for their interesting way of bringing the bill - I had to ask for the it when it was already in front of me, hahaha.

Anyway that was my disappointing experience at Balkan Burger. Would definitely not dine in again, but order takeaways, continue to shop around the mall, and then go back to collect my order (if I ever decide to eat there again). The overall service was truly bad (but not the worst!). Would have, maybe, understood if the place was packed on that day, but it wasn't,  so no...

Spent two days in Gqeberha and decided to visit Balkan Burger on Friday night after seeing Mr B do his thing on social media and wow, it lived up to the hype!

The restaurant was buzzing around 7pm, packed to the brim, but the staff and owner were fully hands-on, making sure everyone was happy with cold beers, milkshakes, and great food.

Service was friendly and on point. Drinks were ice cold, and the burgers absolutely incredible! Stuffed with stuff, generously stuffed, flavorful beef cooked perfectly medium, just the way I like it. The buns are baked in-house too, not your standard franchise fare.

What stood out most was Mr B himself, he personally visits each table, chats with customers, offers a firm handshake, and shows genuine warmth and hospitality. It’s rare to see that level of personal touch these days.

PE may be a slower city, but these guys go the extra mile. Top-notch service, excellent food, a must-visit spot. Support small local businesses...

Today i went to balkan burger i was so excited to go when we got there we ordered the Mr B special and made it very clear that we do not want the spicy option but when we started eating they gave us the wrong order and they did nothing about it our waiter just walked away then i was busy eating my taco and suddenly felt that i was biting into something hard and then i saw it was a small rock that i bit into that was in my food when i told my waiter this she just took the food and did nothing not apologise or nothing and then the manager came and offered to bring us a whole new order of the Mr B special with everything that has happened but when we got home and opened the food that was in a takeaway it was just our leftovers that we did not eat because i found a rock in it and it was the spicy option how disappointing and then we still had to pay...
