I visited Rocco Mama’s today with my children, hoping to treat them to something small. From the moment we walked in, the warmth and attentiveness of the staff made us feel seen and valued in a way I’ll never forget.

Lucinda, Akhona, Xolelwa, and Charmaine went above and beyond — not only offering thoughtful recommendations but treating us with genuine kindness and care. Their attentiveness wasn’t just good service; it was heart-led hospitality.

It’s rare these days to encounter staff who carry such compassion in their work. What these ladies did may seem small to some, but to me and my children, it was unforgettable. The experience left a mark on my heart — not just because of the food, but because of the love served with it.

The "tick-what-you-want" menu is quite unique in Port Elizabeth, but it ensures that you get what you asked for. When it comes to chips (and shoestring chips they are) - we ordered side chips - small is by no means to be laughed at. The burgers were amazing. We chose beef; you have an option of beef, chicken, or soy. I'm still not exactly sure what the "smash" is on their menu, but then I never asked our waiter - who was Jeandre - great waiter; honest, and made our experience just that bit more enjoyable. I will be honest. I enjoyed the milkshakes. However, very disappointed for the rib size. The cheesy chips are way more in size than the ribs. Plus the ribs was R80! Way too expensive for its small size. Quite disappointing and will not order it again. Our original waitress disappeared that served us and they provide dirty knifes and forks to us. I had call someone to fix the problem. Then a random waiter expected I will tip after such service?!? I know it is Black Friday weekend people, but no excuse for mistakes like this and tips cannot be given to waiters that was not serving me.
