I went into Bootleggers Cresta for a coffee and a slice of cheesecake. On the counter at the entrance was a whole cheesecake, which looked delicious. When I placed my order, the manager, whose back was facing me at the time, swung around instantly when he heard me place my order. He then took it upon himself to take the whole cheesecake, despite me placing the order with a staff member and not him, and took the whole cake all the way to the back of the shop, to 'slice' it. He appeared in an instant, with a slice perfectly packed in a styrofoam container and handed it to a staff member to give to me.I became rather suspicious, thinking that was extremely quick, even I who has been baking all my life, couldn't cut a slice of cake so perfectly in 5 seconds. While I waited on my coffee, he went about his work, in the shop, but didn't bring the rest of the cake back out.I realised then, that he had brought me an old piece of cheesecake, from the fridge,as the cake was stiff and ice cold. So he didn't slice a piece of the fresh cake which I had ordered from the display at the entrance! In all the time I was waiting on my coffee, the rest of the cake didn't come back out as he was waiting on me to leave, so I couldn't see that he hadn't sold me a slice of the fresh cake. He must've been doing this all day, until he sold all the old cheesecake in the fridge at the back. This is a very dishonest manager,so I wouldn't recommend anyone eating there, as you cannot be sure if you're...
Read moreWhen the Seattle Coffee down the hall closed, it left Cresta Mall without a good café; it took a while but Bootleggers has come to fill the void - pretty big boots to fill, that little Seattle had been there forever, serving the community for years. Fortunately Bootleggers is well beyond capable of taking up that role. Their pricing leans towards the more expensive side as café's go, but the coffee is great, the menu is solid, the staff are friendly and the overall vibe of the place is pretty chilled (though I have yet to visit on a busy day or during rush hour). Bootleggers' app can be a little confusing at first (I much prefer the simplicity of Seattle's loyalty system) but it gets the job done.
Overall, a great cafe; and though it doesn't have a direct connection to a bookstore like the old Seattle did, it is situated right next to Exclusive Books - a great place to spend time on newly...
Read moreI visited Bootlegger Cresta on Monday, and just have to share the awesome experience myself and my family had! Not only was the food absolutely delicious and fresh, the smoothies and juices were superb! The staff must've been the most friendly staff I've ever encountered at a restaurant, they were super helpful with my toddler, offered a high chair, drawings, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable! We ordered some cakes for dessert, (as we simply couldn't get enough), the cheesecake and chocolate cake was phenomenal! I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a restaurant! Thank you Bootlegger Cresta Team! We will definitely...
