Don Armando Illovo — Restaurant in Gauteng

As a Peruvian, I was very excited to try this Argentinian restaurant with my husband. When we arrived we were question by the host about our booking which I replied never got back to me for my booking but if they could give us a table for two. She did and we were right next to the bar. We ordered some drinks. My drink for R145 with should have Prosecco,San pellegrino and raspberry only tasted like a cheap gin tonic drink. I asked about the drink if it was the right one which they check and they said it was throwing my menu on top of my bread and sauce. My husband whisked was served with a full glass of ice when he asked neat one. He tried to ask for another glass to get the ice out but waitress to not be found. By then we were very uncomfortable but I was still decided to try one dish which it was the empanadas. They were quite disappointing, no flavor, lots of corn and we couldn’t even taste the chicken and the cheese one was a creamy cheese sauce.

We really had a bad experience and we won’t go back there...

Had an amazing experience packed with laughs and conversation. This "hidden gem" of a restaurant is absolutely worth every penny you're going to spend. The atmosphere was magnificent and makes you feel at home. The service makes you think that all the other restaurants are missing something from their repertoire. I ordered the Fiorentina T-bone steak which was cooked to absolute perfection and then some more. Although a bit pricey you will walk out knowing that you got every cents worth. Happened to forget a wallet there and they promptly called to let us know.

10/10 would reccomend for a special evening.

Don Armando in Illovo is a top-tier spot for a date night. The candlelit ambiance sets the perfect mood, complemented by fantastic service. The chorizo starter stole the show—rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The ribeye with bone marrow was outstanding, cooked to perfection with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. I had the lamb rib chops, which were good, but I’d highly recommend sticking to their expertly crafted steaks. The extensive wine list offers an excellent selection to pair with the meal.
