I would like to inform you that this Spur franchise is the worst I have ever been to. (My review of a s**t Spur There were about 6 couples (including us) in the restaurant for breakfast on Sunday 27 December 2020. Needless to say the restaurant next door was packed to the brim.... (I wondered why? Now I know, bad service from Spur for one). When we arrived we requested to be seated at a cool place where the aircon was working and were placed right next to the entrance where it was supposed to be cooler.. Was not. We requested to be moved to a cooler area of the restaurant which was closer to the children's play area (this was a bit better but still warm, it seems your aircons are not working?) Another reason why people tend to not visit you..
We ordered the Spur value breakfast with free top up including coffee for R67 (Considered at the time as a value for money). When asked if they could replace the coffee with normal tea, I got a reply no! I asked to speak to the manager which did not come at that point (sitting at point of sale). The waiter did return indicating that they will replace the coffee with tea.
Our order was placed before another couple that came in 5 minutes after us. Well no surprise there, their drinks were served long before ours. Poor service from waiter round 1. The same happened with the serving of breakfast where the other couple received their food 1st, we had to wait another 10 minutes for our breakfast. We requested a bit of honey(we don't eat jam), red tabasco and chutney. We were informed that you have no red tabasco or honey! Round 2
Your value offering for 2 pork sausages and mushrooms is a real rip off and should be removed due to the proportion size. Round 3. My wife's fork had rough edging (burs) on the front end and we requested another young male manager to replace / throw away the fork since it is a health hazard for patrons trying to eat with this fork. This manager took the fork and never returned with a replacement fork! We had to call a lady manager to bring my wife another fork and knife set. Round 4.
As noted above this service is atrocious to say the least (to provide simple breakfast) I fear that a main course with a lot of patrons will be a death wish......
We should have gone to Parrot's instead (value for money and...
Read moreToday me and my friend went for lunch at spur because we love the place and the food is always great, however today the experience was bad the service from the lady who was serving us was bad. The food took long to come it was cold. After she gave us the food she never bothered to come back and check on us until a manager came and asked us if we need anything, we asked for doggy bags the manger gave us, then she finally came cleared the table then left again with even saying anything to us. We sat there waiting for her to come back until the same manager noticed that we still not being attended to the manager started shouting at her, then she came still not saying anything not apologizing nothing then we asked for the bill, she went got it and came back when she saw that we didn't give her a tip she through the card back at my friend.
So I don't if this is how the stuff treat people or maybe it depends who you are or the amount you spend at spur because she was serving another customer with kids and she was very attentive to her.
Or she undermined us because we were wearing uniform like her so she thought we are not worthy to be...
Read moreHad dinner at the Spur Saturday night. My schnitzel was good. Wife's. Bacon, avo and chicken salad ok with chicken pieces tough. The wine though, utter rubish!!! Wife ordered D'Aria Music - white, dry wine. It was yellow and deffinitely much, much older than 2021. What's more, it lacked the destinctive, fruity taste of D'Aria - had a funny smell. When I asked the waiter about this, he brought a fresh bottle out as example of the, so called, quality - the bottlecap was unsealed. It is clear, at leat to me, that rhey keep empty D'Aria bottles and refill them with cheap dated wine. We were charged for D'Aria. Not a happy chappy as we feel taken for a nice ride.
Me and the wife had a follow up dinner with her 76th birthday. It was really a wonderfull experience with food excellently prepared and very good service. The wine, served in a carafe, was well chilled and tasty - three oceans - I had a Castle Draft as usual. I had a Schnitzel and the wife had Calemari with crumbed mushrooms. All hail to Siya the manager for affecting corrective actions. Thank you...
