Parrots restaurant in Centurian is a real mixed bag; some good and some bad.

We were a group of five couples, out for an informal Sunday lunch around 13h00 when the restaurant was fairly busy, but not heaving.

It is conveniently located less than 10-minutes’ walk from the Centurian Gautrain station, thus avoiding expensive Uber fees for those travelling from Sandton or Rosebank and still wanting to partake of a few alcoholic drinks.

The menu is very diverse, offering a range between light lunches such as salads, wraps and toasted sandwiches, right the way up to huge 500g plus, dry-aged steaks selected from the dry-ager pictured.

Our sever, Patricia was polite and helpful. She made sure to strongly punt the dry-aged steaks when telling us what was available on the menu.

We had an assortment of starters which were fine, though four us ordered fried squid-heads but were served fried squid tubes, an honest mistake perhaps, so we did not make a fuss as they were well-cooked and tender.

For our mains, we selected a variety of dishes from prawns and burgers, right up to the biggest dry-aged steak available.

All the food arrived roughly simultaneously, though I ‘m sure that some (or much) of the food had been waiting for at least ten minutes without being kept hot.

We all specifically asked for crispy chips, but that was not my wife’s or my experience. Wanting a lighter meal and not really being steak-eaters, we had opted for the burgers which looked great on the menu. Unfortunately, these were both served cold, on cold plates and with soggy, cold chips. We did not send them back as we did not want to make a fuss among a group of friends and fearing that our friends would have finished eating before replacement meals had been produced. We would certainly have returned them if dining as a couple. We both picked around our food and allowed it to be cleared largely uneaten. This was not questioned by the person clearing the table who was not our server.

Conversely, and to be fair, our friend who ordered the giant, dry-aged steak was ecstatic, he’s a big meat eater and said it was one of the best steaks he’d ever been served.

Desserts were decent too; my wife and I shared an individual blueberry cheesecake chosen from a refrigerated display cabinet. This was tasty and fresh and even defeated us both on size, as we did not quite finish it.

We divided the bill equally and it worked out at R1,000 per couple including service, which had been added to the bill without consulting us.

So, we left the restaurant late in the afternoon with some of us having had a great meals and others being extremely disappointed.

Based on my wife's and my experience, we’d certainly not return and could not possibly recommend this restaurant for...

Went to Parrots Centurion Mall for the first time this morning and the service is terrible!! I walked in with my laptop, hoping to do some work and the first issue I had was with how long it took the waiter who greeted me at the door to come take my order.

After I placed the order, I asked the waitress for the wifi password. She goes to fetch the manager. The manager comes over, and wants to find out if I have ordered anything first! I found that a bit off-putting and unprofessional, but I get settled int and place my order anyway...

When my order finally arrives at the table, it's the wrong one! I look around the near empty restaurant (which is usually a BIG clue on the quality of a restaurant) I don't see my waitress. In fact I see none of the wait staff! They are all queuing outside. So I get up and return the incorrect order to the kitchen myself and ask for the right one.

After I sit down again I realise that my laptop screen is a bit dirty, I ask for a wet wipe and a serviette. The wet wipe comes, but no serviette. I finish my call, look around and again see no waiter in sight. I get up, the manager eventually spots me, approaches and asks, "Do you need any assistance, sir?". Me being already at the bar, I grab a few serviettes, make eye contact, raise my hand to gesture with the serviettes, turn around and return to my table.

I thought I would spend all day here, but bad service is always just enough to put me...

Parrots Centurion Mall has really disappointed us as a family this evening. After a long day we wanted to settle down to a lovely family meal before returning home. One great point to mention is the waiter Leah and she gave us great service. Although the starters reached us after 20 minutes and cold; we enjoyed it nonetheless however, when the main meal arrived 40 minutes later, we were completely appalled. We requested the burgers to be well done and the steak to be medium rare. This was completely opposite, burgers were medium well and the steak medium rare according to Derek the Manager who eventually came to argue at the table. We showed him that there was a plastic hair in the one burger and he told us it was a part of the garnish, micro greens, clearly when asking him if micro greens have plastic stems, he maintained it was garnish. We politely advised that we are willing to pay for the meal in it's entirety, he continued arguing, even with an Internationally Qualified Chef at our table. Although we paid for the starters and refreshments, the principal behind the matter was missed completely as we handled the situation professionally but did not receive any reciprocation. We were Parrots fans. We received great service at another branch. Centurion Mall Parrots, you have changed our minds completely. Regards....

Atmosphere fantastic. Waiters Great. Wide Menu choice It's a rather harsh 1 star because of my meal and the lack of ownership from management Kids cheese burgers were good but not the best according to my kids. Chicken Mexican pasta lacked seasoning. Now to my meal. On advice from the waiter I ordered their aged T Bone. It promised to be an exceptional experience but unfortunately was not. Food smelt very meaty, was not sure if it was the aged steak or undercooked marrow bone.... Really undercooked The issue however was the large piece of plastic wrapping hidden in the confetti butter. I did get a sorry from the Manager but that was it I immediately stopped eating as I was put off. Despite this, the Management team still charged me in full for a meal that I did not finish nor offered any sort of compensation. I therefore took the food home to donate. I felt that there was no remorse or accountability. I even went as far as leaving my contact details to engage with the owner or someone higher but no response. Very dissapointing from an establishment that can be great. Pic of bill where I still tipped as it was not the fault of the waiter

The service at your Parrots kiosk was absolutely atrocious especially coming from Daniella, a whole manager .she had such a condescending attitude as she boldly told me to definitely complain about her when I asked for her name as she proceeded to offer me the email address where I can log my complaint without being asked . She firstly accused me of incorrectly hearing the lady who took my order . Which was incorrect as the lady confirmed with the kitchen staff as she was unsure. Daniella the store manager needs training on how to deal with customers and how to speak to customers who come to spend their hard earned money. She made it clear that she does not value customers or know what’s customer service is . I am extremely disappointed in such a highly regarded establishment .
