A friend invited me to join her for breakfast on the 29th of September. We met early (08h00) as both of us had other plans later. I have to say that the service attitude was really good. Friendly wait staff and management and the food itself was also really good. The reason I am giving the experience 3 stars is that patrons are subjected to a lot of noise from the kitchen, the coffee grinder (at least we thought it was a grinder from the repetitive noise) combined with kitchen and conversation noise and the repeated "tinging" of the bell at the pass were not conducive to an enjoyable experience. The music (played at a reasonable level) was almost inaudible over the noise and only added to the auditory assault.
Possibly because of the noise, our waitress took down one of our orders incorrectly, although we had both ordered the same thing bar one addition to my friend's request. A third plate of food arrived at our table which had not been ordered by anyone. I also ordered a pot of strong tea - what I received was a pot of hot water with a tea bag perched on a saucer. That is not how tea is made.
I didn't speak to the manager about our experience at the time as I was there at my friend's invitation and we left as soon after our meal as we possibly could because of the overbearing noise. We were both very disappointed. Management should look at sorting out the noise levels and space between adjacent tables.
As I said, good food, friendly staff, but an overall...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Tasha’s, visiting every Saturday morning for breakfast with friends after gym. However, my experience today left me deeply disappointed and frustrated.
Upon arriving, my group and I were handed a numbered ticket to wait for a table. This wasn’t unusual, but what followed was unacceptable. Despite patiently waiting for 20 minutes, we noticed a table becoming available as it was being cleaned. Just as we were hopeful to finally sit and enjoy our meal, we were bypassed entirely. Instead, a white lady who had just arrived after was given the table.
When we brought this to the attention of the white manager, we were met with a dismissive and offensive explanation: “You were not being seen.” It’s hard not to feel that this treatment was racially motivated. I guess that's the new Tasha's way.
As a Black customer, I expect the same respect and fairness as anyone else. Tasha’s failed miserably in this regard, and I will not be returning. It’s appalling to be treated this way in a place I once enjoyed.
Thankfully, Burgers and Ribs stepped in to turn our day around. They welcomed us warmly and treated us with dignity, something Tasha’s could learn from.
If you’re looking for a restaurant that values all its patrons equally, I suggest going elsewhere. I, for one, would rather drink water than go...
Read moreOne of the best restaurants i have ever been to. Honestly Tashas is one of the best places for a girls night out, a business meeting or your bougie sweet 16! Tashas is an ornate restaurant, not necessarily for a quick night out if that makes sense. I have never gone to a restaurant with such patient and understanding waiters, hats of to the HR team for recruiting and training in my opinion the best waiters and waitresses in Johannesburg. The prices at Tashas are not as high as you would expect, for such a beautiful restaurant the food is 100% value for money. The food is not a quick pot to plate, but well crafted by a passionate chefs. In comparison to the Tashas in Sandton city and other areas Tashas Cafe Nicolway is hands down the best. While i sit in my office chair looking for something negative to say, as i do for a lot of the places I visit, I honestly struggle because my experience was nothing short of remarkable. Hats of to Tashas Nicolway you are on my list for top restaurants in...
