Ukko restaurant is an absolute gem that provides an unparalleled dining experience. From the moment you step through the doors, you are greeted with an atmosphere that oozes class and sophistication. The elegant décor, coupled with soft lighting, sets the perfect mood for a memorable evening.

The star of the show, without a doubt, is the incredible food. The menu boasts a wide array of dishes that cater to various tastes and preferences. Each plate is a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavors that tantalize the taste buds. Whether you're a carnivore, vegetarian, or pescatarian, Ukko has something extraordinary to offer. Their attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of the dishes is truly commendable.

What sets Ukko apart is not just the exceptional cuisine but also the impeccable management and service. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly, making you feel like a valued guest throughout your dining experience. They are more than happy to assist with any dietary requirements or suggest the perfect wine pairing to enhance your meal.

The restaurant's ambiance is truly amazing, striking the perfect balance between intimate and lively. It's an ideal spot for a romantic date night, celebratory dinner, or a gathering with friends and family. The soothing background music adds to the overall experience without overpowering conversation.

The only downside might be that due to its immense popularity, Ukko can get quite busy, and reservations are recommended to avoid disappointment. However, the superb service ensures that even during busy times, you still receive the attention and care you deserve.

In conclusion, Ukko restaurant offers a top-notch dining experience with its classy atmosphere, incredible food, and excellent service. It is a place where one can create lasting memories and indulge in culinary delights. Whether you're a food enthusiast or just looking for a fantastic dining outing, Ukko is an...

We promptly arrived at 7.30, we had requested an outside table, however we were sat inside, with this we did not complain, as we noticed it was full and this can happen. To start with I requested still water.. it took 15m and the need of me calling a manager to get an answer that they were expecting delivery of waters. They mentioned they would offer us sparkling water on the house. We ordered our food, edamame and some variety of sushi. The sushi itself has an excess of Mayo.. one of the plates we ordered MediterrAsian Crunch is simply flavorless, you can only taste the fried rice. I did enjoy the take on the mini hand rolls, however again, excessive teriyaki sauce. The need to fill sushi with mayo and teriyaki sauce is horrid as it takes all the flavor out. But again, I do understand the South Africans love the sushi like this.

The menu itself is not that exciting, I feel the sense of mediterrânea and Asian is lost with lamb chops, tomahawks and grilled prawns the typical you find in any restaurante. Sushi options are also basic, you just need to add pizza on the menu as well to be like the other hundreds of restaurants around Joburg with lost identity. The wine list while it has some good French wines like the Whispering angel and some Elgins that are not so common it is very basic. For a med / Asian restaurante I was expecting a bigger variety, not even Sake or proper med wines.

Moving back to the service, our waiter performed poorly, very slow, did not even remove empty plates and unfriendly. And at the end we still paid for the 2 bottles of sparkling water, so no sense of sticking to their word.

Regarding Ambience, it is extremely noisy, decor is cute, but nothing different than other restaurants around.

All in all, I did not enjoy the experience and I don’t feel the need to return as there was no WOW factor as per all the reviews I had read on...

The staff were excellent, we had Sandile look after us.

From the beginning to the end the food was a huge dissapointment. We ordered the tempura prawns for starters, what was brought to us was not tempura prawns, they were prawns with panko. The prawns had a very fishy smell, which can only mean that they were not cleaned properly.

For mains we both had the "crispy" lamb chops, medium well. The chops arrived two cooked to death and two far from crispy, all four were well done. The chops also had chilli on them - there is no mention of this on the menu. Sandile took the two flobbery chops back to the kitchen. I had a bite of one of the charred chops, but the chilli over powered the lamb. The lamb had a very strong smell, indicating that they had not been rinsed and dried off before cooking. To add insult to injury, the chops were tough and knives were blunt.

By the time Sandile brought the two chops back to the table after having had the kitchen "crisp" them up, I had lost interest and asked for the chops to be packed as a take away - I wouldn't eat them at home either but they were expensive so I'll most probably give them to my dogs.

The chips that we ordered looked great, but disappointed as well, I think I managed 5 chips.

The tender stem broccoli looked cooked to perfection, but also had chilli on them and some other scraps they looked like slivers of garlic and tasted very strong and killed the broccoli.

We then shared a piece of cheesecake. The base was soggy and the caramel looked like something that came out of a tube. It all looked very nice but the taste was more than dissapointing.

Don't worry, I will not be going back or recommending the restaurant to anybody.

What a dreadful waste of money and time. Not sure who gave the awards to the restaurant??? Maybe it was family and friends.

Wishing you all the best...

Their food was great and their mocktails were amazing! To eat, I had the beef riblets and the crispy zucchini ribbons served with aioli. That was a great combination but they were delicious on their own definitely. Mostly enjoyed the zucchini, it was great by itself and with the aioli it was amazing- definitely recommend that dish for sure. For drinks, I had two of the nonalcoholic cocktails, the rammus and the raspberry mojito. The rasmus which was super delicious, love the citrus and the cucumber made it so refreshing- I recommend this one for sure. The raspberry mojito was also delicious, the raspberry flavor wasn’t watered down and I could still taste the lemon and mint. Nonalcoholic cocktails include regular mojito, raspberry mojito, strawberry daiquiri and the rasmus. I opted out of dessert but their dessert options were okay - the usual cheesecake, tiramisu, churros, and something chocolatey. The pricing of their desserts is reasonable. Ukko has super clean aesthetic vibes, in my opinion. Great for casual vibes but can be considered upmarket for sure. The music is great, the ambience is perfect and the service was okay. It does get busy though, even during the week especially during peak lunch hours so definitely reserve a table if you plan on coming on the weekend.

We had seen great reviews about this restaurant online but I was very disappointed with the service on arrival. We made an appointment for 19:30 online, the restaurant called to confirm only to be told the “lunch” service had ran over. The women at the front desk barely apologised and offered no solution or time when we’d be seated. We had to stand around with other diners not knowing when we’d be seated. We then decided to leave and as we were about to take the uber a waiter approached us stating he’d have a table ready for us “soon”. We told him we couldn’t wait around when we had made a booking. He kindly arranged seating for us and offered complimentary drinks. We had booked indoor seating but ended up sat in the overflow area just outside the restaurant. The food, drinks and service that followed were relatively good but the first impression had left a sour taste. They need to do something about the hand rolls as the seaweed was chewy and very difficult to bite into.
