Kleinsky's Birdhaven — Restaurant in Gauteng

Was so happy to see this Cape Town gem in JHB. We always visit the Cape Town store when we are there. And the food quality is just as good. Wonderfully made bagels. The service however was a bit surprising granted the standard that I know the CT store ascribes to. Coffee took very long to be made, longer than someone else's bagel and the staff that brought the food always seemed confused as to where the order needed to go. This happened 3 times. Seems like no communication between who took the order and who brought it. This possible scenario was confirmed when I ordered the bagel and added bacon to it. The waiter came back to check if I wanted normal bacon or lamb bacon and when the order came it had no bacon on it, after which I had to request and it came on the side which altered the taste and presentation of the...

My husband and I recently checked out this new place and loved the relaxed welcoming vibe, not too loud just perfect. Our waitress Tando was fantastic and so friendly. She suggested we try the California and Teriyaki Brisket bagels. Their bagels were exactly what you'd want, chewy with a nice crust and fresh fillings that really stood out. Everyone working there was really nice, and a manager came by to check on us, though we didn’t catch his name. Our waitress also suggested some desserts so we grabbed a chocolate babka and biscoff cheesecake to take home. They were both AMAZING!!. The food came out quickly too. I gave their matcha a try just because and it was spot on. They even brought a bowl of water for our dog which was a nice touch.

Joburg's Best Bagel!

I can confidently say, after two separate visits, that Kleinsky's has the best bagel I've ever had.

With a wide variety of bagels and non-bagel eats to choose from, there is something for everyone. Perfect coffee for the coffee lovers and deliciously tasty bagels. The fresh ingredients blend together to create a heavenly mouthful with every bite.

Friendly and kind staff. I am confident that as the Birdhaven location ages, the staff will become more and more confident.

No reservations available but the wait is not long. Enjoy the atmosphere and vibe of a new York style deli.
