It was an absolute gem! The entire park is beautifully manicured, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful walk, a fun outing with your kids, or even a game of paddle, this park has it all.
One of the highlights is the variety of activities available. There’s a dedicated play area for kids, well-maintained walking paths for a refreshing stroll, and even paddle courts for those who enjoy a bit of sport. If you have a furry friend, you’ll be happy to know that the park is dog-friendly, making it a great place for a walk or a play session.
To top it all off, there’s a fantastic restaurant on-site that serves great coffee, drinks, and meals—perfect for unwinding after a day at the park. Plus, parking is ample, so you won’t have to worry about finding a spot.

Read moreJames & Ethel Gray Park is a beautiful well maintained park in the city (Melrose).
Beautifully fenced and secure with a few pedestrian gates into the park and two drive in entrance’s that lead to a car park (which can fill up on a busy weekend)
Great place to come with the family for a picnic, or take your dog for a walk or just to hang out in a quiet open natural environment and take in the beautiful surroundings.
I would’ve given the Park a full 5 Stars but it lost a Star due to the dog walkers not picking up their dog’s poo and one has to walk looking out for dog poo on the grass!
Security is present in the car park and walking around the park.
If you want a game of Paddle Tennis or a bite to eat, there is a Coffee Shop that offers a bite to eat or a hot/cold beverage.
I would recommend this park to anyone and everyone, especially families with children who need open spaces to burn some...
Read moreThis park is so nice! We came with my daughter and I was pleasantly surprised. In contrast to other Joburg parks, it's very safe here. There are less people visiting to make selfies wearing trashy clothes and a lot of make up. Mostly, people who are jogging or walking their dogs. Few corporates having a morning coffee and a lot of people playing tennis.
There are few play areas suitable for all age groups. I have a 15 months old daughter, who enjoyed even the area that is for 3+. There are a lot of facilities and the staff is cleaning the slides with water every morning.
For the adults and the children there's a nice coffee shop and they even serve babyccino, which is kids-friendly cappuccino.
There's enough parking space and it's wheelchair accessible.
It's well maintained BUT there's a lot of dog poos, which the owners don't pick up and the cleaners don't clean. This makes it a bit...
