Lambruscos Italian — Restaurant in Gauteng

Apparently if you are not one of the "elite" in Northcliff, then do NOT expect to be treated well at all. My partner and I walked in to a very unpleasant experience in this little "gem".

Firstly we were greated by a gentleman who seemed pretty jovial at first, though not bursting with enthusiasm ( maybe because we were not the "known elite". We were told there were no tables available. Upon us pointing out the two unreserved tables in the back we were told that we could have one..

Arriving at our table we found only one chair and seeing there were two of us this seemed a little inconvenient to our situation.

We were offered no help as we were pointed to the table then left to our own devices... The table next to us was not reserved so we started seating ourselves, at this point in time a waitress, presumably seeing us as potential armed assailants, screamed from the top of her voice "NOT THERE!! THAT IS RESERVED!!!".

Now all my senses started to scream to get out as I felt pretty insulted and wanted to leave.. We were approached by a very friendly waitress but informed her that we were going to rather leave and seek friendlier presented fair..

On the way out an ageing gentleman, the same one that pretended they were fully booked, asked why we were leaving to which I replied that I did not appreciate being screamed at like a banshee being hunted on a summer evening, his response was "Well, that's fine" in a very snotty way.

As a long standing resident of Senior Drive, I have visited nearly all of the restaurants in my local area and wanted to keep the Lambrusco's experience for a special occasion and did not expect this kind of treatment. Maybe I should enquire as to where I could purchase the membership card for this establishment so I can also be treated with some modicum of respect.

Currently I am sitting at Thunder Gun without snotty proprietors and I feel human and being treated like a real paying customer.. Lambrusco's will never...

The service was terrible when I visited Lambrusco's. Surprisingly not even from the waiter, who was more then lovely, but from the owner/ manager himself! My partner ordered the feta and basil pasta and requested it without the feta, due to a lactose allergy. However when the pasta arrived it had sprinkled parmesan cheese on top. Cut to us sending back the pasta. And the owner himself taking the time out of his busy evening to come out of the kitchen and give us a rather unpleasant and stern lecture about how we should read the menu better when ordering.

Basically he came out the kitchen to blame us for the fact that there was parmesan on top of a feta and basil dish that had no mention of parmesan on the so called menu "we should have read better". To add to this mess the description of the dish mentions basil, not basil pesto. When the dish arrived it had pesto sauce on it which also contain cheese, the manager was more then happy to rudely explain this concept to us.

I was so uncomfortable by his behavior. I will never visit again. Despite being a resident of the area and visiting multiple times. This was just appalling. To treat customers so badly, and go so far as to reprimand them for not reading the menu properly? The solution would be to just have better descriptions on the menu, and be kinder to those dining in...

What an utter disappointment making a booking at this establishment. A blatant display of racism which when addressed the waitress retaliated by screaming at me and the owner saw no issue with the differential treatment or the fact that we were waiting for an hour without receiving our food while people who came after us were served. When asked about the specials we were told thus is the only menu. Yet all other patrons were given elaborate descriptions of the specials of the day. We were the only family of colour there. And the only table not attended to. We arrived on time for our booking. The only explanation the owner could offer was oh some people arrived late and others early things got hectic. So does that justify why we were the family that got the shoddy treatment or was it because we were the family of colour. A disgusting attitude and sincerely I hope yours is a business that fails because of the manner in which you treat...
