Firstly, the staff here are very ALOOF. Sat for a long time, after having to fetch a menu myself, and eventually had to go order at the counter. Secondly the manager is obnoxious and loud, aside from looking at me twice while I sat without any menu before hand. Aloof waitresses walk past without asking if I need anything. Food was tasteless. And then the COFFEE.. another aloof experience. WHY is all coffee in Joburg so insipid, cold and uninteresting? I understand light roast is popular (10 years ago) but ‘specialty’ cafes like this could push it up a good notch, especially if every cup counts. Bring new varieties of beans, go medium roast, for a start, tell the story of the origins! It’s not difficult. Aside from being aloof, the Joburg coffee experience feels… utterly lazy in their comfort zones at the moment.

Found this little gem on a recent walk about. Eccentric and the coffee, yes - the barista latched onto my sense of humour, yes the coffee was amazing and the best part was sitting on the side walk taking in the scene, the hustle and bustle. In the pick below, what has become a favourite, an almond milk cortado, double shot espresso. Coffee came to my rescue in a time when seeing the trees from the woods was difficult. The coming together of people through coffee is what drives me, to experience and provide the same to others I encounter. Good on you Loof Coffee, see y’all soon

It was by chance me and a friend stumbled upon this gem in Norwood. It is seriously quaint, fully authentic and buzzing with activity. We both ordered a Spanish Latte that was unbelievably sweet and straight up delicious. With the added condensed milk it may be too sweet for some but if your not a sweet tooth like me it's a real treat. We didn't have time to eat but they cater to "sit down" or "on the run" moments with a grab and go section boasting a wide variety of wholesome goodies. I would love to go back and try their food to make it a 5 star experience.
