Adega Norwood — Restaurant in Gauteng

This was my 1st time eating at adegas in Norwood and it wasn't very pleasant we were attended to by James we ordered a family platter which was nice. my husband ordered the 500g tomahawk steak but James was keen on getting us to make it a 800g. My mother wanted fish so we asked him and he said there is a special for kingklip but it was a small kingklip and we agreed to it thinking it was just a small portion of fish with chips and rice, i honestly was going to ask him to make it a medium kingklip but my mother said the small was fine because we had ordered other stuff. Only for this so called small kingklip to arrive and it's not kingklip it was a whole semi grilled hake which could easily feed up to 5 people. I did ask him about it because he said its a small kinglip and not a whole fish and he looked at the plate and said this is a small. It also wasn't grilled properly just by looking at it you could tell it was raw. We asked him if he could grill it abit more only for it to come back this time with cheese on it why? I have no idea. We actually didn't even try it. The whole presentation with the hake and cheese was really off putting. Definitely a waste of money. I would like for the waiters to be more specific when it comes to orders. And be honest about it. This experience for us was very disappointing.......

Arrived with my extended family of 15..place looked good. Placed orders of prawns..my first visit with high expectations based on previous reviews.anyway order took.long,but no problem good food takes time..However..my peri prawns were so overly spiced did not feel right.(I am someone who is comfortable with Nando's hot).anyway my sister who has eaten there several times before tasted it and agreed that this did not taste like usual. Called manager..he tasted one from mine also and admitted it is not OK. Took it back to the kitchen. Sometime later the "NEW" Prawns came..looked good. Mine came with 2 short..the one I had eaten and the one the manager tasted as wrong also.(in fairness they not cheap and the one he tasted should have been replaced)..was warm and looked good..but tasted like they had just rinsed them to make them less spicy and brought back to the table..tasted like prawns grilled without any spice..anyway I was hungry, frustrated and disappointed and just ate them unhappily. My daughter received her order 30 min late .she ordered 10 prawns. They forgot to bring it..so.it was now cold. Sent back to the kitchen. When she received her nice and hot prawns but 5 short.sent 10 and magically got back.5. I am aware that this place has good reviews and maybe were having a bad day..I will not...

I should not even give this place a 1star rating but unfortunately, it is the lowest I can go. Came to Adega Norwood for supper on Tuesday night. Lovely place with friendly waiters. My husband ordered the steak with mash and I got the half chicken with half chips half rice. Waited an hour to get our food, which was longer than the usual waiting time on a weekday but we were patient enough to wait for the food to arrive. I proceeded with my meal only to notice when i got to the bone that the chicken was still pink and undercooked. Fast forward Wednesday afternoon... I got so so sick, ended up with severe nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting. Ended up with food poisoning after eating the chicken which should have been well prepared given the amount of time we waited for our food. Needless to say this meal cost me more than what it was worth after the nausea meds, diarrhoea meds and drips i had to be put on to recover from this, not to mention time off from work due to me being so weak that I could not even drive. I WILL NEVER ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!
