Garden Place Guest House — Hotel in Gauteng

One of the positives about Garden Place is the fact that the gardens are lush and beautiful. That however came at a price because I had a scorpion in my room. The security gentlemen at the gate were friendly. ||I booked my stay at Garden Place because they advertised breakfast being available. On my first morning there I went to the dining room and was told that no breakfast was available because of Covid. I was not told this when I checked in. I asked about coffee and was told that there is instant coffee in my room. This was true. Two sachets for my four day day, so one cup of coffee every second day.||The towels were old, discoloured and frayed. The sheets were so worn I could see through them. They were clearly so old that they were no longer white, but an off white colour.||There was a fridge in the room but everything I put in there froze. ||I cannot understand how this place can have a four star rating.||Will never stay there again. The service is impeccable from coming home to a spotless room to waking up to an amazing, homey, warm breakfast to start your day. When you first arrive you will meet the most amazing management couple who will take your needs into consideration above all. Nevermind the service and all of that, the garden itself is something that will blow your mind! Ever angle you look you will feel as if you're in a fairy garden full of nature and the sounds of birds giving you a sense of safety and enjoyment. I stayed here whilst on business. On arrival I was horrified as this is certainly not the advertised 4* but only a wannabe 2* but I decided to stay for convenience.||Positives include: The shuttle service to close by facilities, the price seems comparable, close proximity to a number of really good restaurants, helpful staff, the breakfast is suitably varied and good, dinner (on request) was very goo, the rooms are clean, it meets all your basic needs from iron to fridge etc||Negatives: the decor is in a time warp, it feels like they have collected old fashioned thrown out furniture and decor to furnish rooms and common spaces, sheets are so old they are frayed and towels aren't fluffy anymore, the gardens are very overgrown making the place feel dark and dodgy, the strange garden decorations and signs should most definitely be removed as they...
