Houghton Guest House — Hotel in Gauteng

We stayed 4nights. Very very quiet. |Bed nice and comfy. Bottom sheet had a hole in it. Room size good. Had a small but old mini fridge and tea making facilities. WiFi and MNet. Decor a bit dated and things in need of repair such as shower door and bath room light. Lots of wardrobe space and a mini safe Shower big enough. Lots of hot water.Gated and walked property with electric fence. Night time security on duty. Doors secured by key card.Quite a central location. We were the only guests on the property. Breakfast is made by the lady who manages the place. She charges R100 pp (£5). Bacon toast egg and frankfurters and loads of tea or coffee. She cooks on astove that is not fit for purpose as the owner doesn't seem to care about maintenance. The lady is called Semi and she does everything herself. From reception to washing and ironing gate duties etc. Very shy and humble and honest lady. She will do your laundry too so please be generous. She gets very little pay. We paid R2000 for 4nights. The website looked good and the pictures seemed luxurious, however it is dirty, unsafe and NOT luxurious. The place was un-kept. Cars are parked very close to the street and the area seemed very dangerous. Not enough parking. We did not feel safe at all - room windows were closed though unlocked. You need to walk through a dark passage next to the house to enter the house. We were provided with a double bed instead of two single beds as requested. The bed pillows appeared yellow-stained. The shower was mouldy. Whole house had a bad odour as if it was old, mouldy and rotten. We paid the full amount and are waiting for a response to get...

Worst experience ever.. I booked my wife and my 11months old baby a room 3days in advance since they were coming from Cape Town. When they got at the guest house there was a whole chapter of stories. After about an hour of waiting a room was a located to them. Smelly dirty room with lots of dust, the pillow had some makeup marks on it. As am typing my baby has flu. Tried contacting the management/owner it didn't help. They overwork their staff who do receptionist, laundry etc. Iam one of their unhappy customers. I hope they improve their services otherwise it is a healthy...
