Mugg & Bean Bedford Centre — Restaurant in Gauteng

Mugg & Bean Eastgate. Pathetic service to start with, 15 min wait for coffee and water and brought still instead of sparkling. When I asked for a baby seat i was brought a broken one, no tray, no belts and a pole sticking out, so If my 6 month old lunged forward he would really hurt himself. When I told the waitress I can’t use this I was told all the others are being used. I was forced to feed my little one on my lap. I looked around the restaurant and only noticed one other seat being used. I asked to speak to a manager, she came to the table obviously being informed because she brought with her a baby chair, a wooden one with also no safety belts. Could perhaps be ok for a 2 year old but the gaps were so big my child would just slide out. This managers name was Sharon. She informed me that the others were being used the one one available is broken. She said it was broken for over a month now already. I asked where the other ones were cause I only saw one, she pointed at the one I could see and then to the other direction. I requested the franchise owners number so I could take this up with him. She returned a little later and said she would bring a chair when one was available, I said to her I only see one chair, so then her story changed and she said no they only have one, 2 are broken. I again asked for the franchise owners number and she said his name is gerhard she will bring it to me. We finished our drinks, paid and I asked the waitress to call Sharon cause I’m still waiting for the number. Sharon refused to come out the office and sent someone by the name of Penelope to tell me they don’t have the franchise owners number. What rubbish! The managers knew they are incompetent by most likely not reporting the broken chairs and now want to keep it hush hush. I would like to speak to the franchise owner to let him know of exactly the poor service and poor managers he has appointed to handle situations. He should know what’s happening in his store and why he’s loosing my business! Cresta mall mugg & bean is amazing, super staff, super service and everyone is efficient and friendly. So if whoever is attending to this would be so kind as to send me the franchise owners details I would really appreciate it or have him get back to me. We arrived shortly after 2 on Sunday and there weren't alot of people so we sat outside. We ordered and proceeded to have drinks while waiting for our food. At around 3 the food came and as we were eating the staff began preparing to close shop, they were cleaning and making us aware that they will be closing in 10 minutes which was 15:30 pm. A few people came in but were told they were closed and one lady asked how because according to the website the shop closes at 17:00 pm.. They hesitantly made her coffee and proceeded to pack up.. we asked for a take away and the bill. Our water brought the bill and forgot the take away. We left as we weren't comfortable but forgot our takeaway. When we returned the store was closed and there was no one. We passed there from the ATM while the waiters were outside but our waiter did not even remind us of our food. Everyone was just in a hurry to leave and not very pleased to be serving us. I was very hurt to have left our food we barely finished because we were rushed. I'm very disappointed as I did not expect such from your restaurant.. How do you deal...

We got seated by the manager which was our first sign of bad service, as there were no waiters waiting at the front! We didn't get menus when we sat down and due to the manager seating us we had no waiter. After about 15 minutes of sitting we still hadn't received our drinks or menu. After what felt like we would die from thrist, did our drinks arrive but still no menu, which we had to ask for. The table behind us with a new born baby had to ask for service! You should not have to asked to me helped! Once we had decided what we wanted we got told that there is no Avocado's, I find this had to believe as there is a Checkers and Woolworths in the same mall all selling ripe Avos. To top it all off my plate was stone cold like it came out of the fridge! Do not come here if you are hungry or thristy as you will wait a while to get served! I will not be coming back to this...
