Cherokee Spur — Restaurant in Gauteng

My recent visit to Spur Bedford left me absolutely horrified and disappointed. I had taken my children there for a meal, expecting a family-friendly environment, but what transpired was beyond disturbing.

During our visit, a complete stranger approached my child and kissed them on the forehead without any permission or interaction. This invasion of personal space was not only inappropriate but deeply unsettling. I immediately voiced my concerns and objection to this inappropriate behavior.

What followed was an even more appalling display of conduct. The stranger, accompanied by their partner, not only responded with offensive language but also began swearing at me right in front of my children. Their partner even went as far as issuing threats, claiming they would be waiting for me at the parking lot. This level of aggression and hostility is completely unacceptable, especially in a family-oriented establishment.

Equally disappointing was the lack of response from the staff at Spur Bedford. Despite being aware of the incident, no one from the restaurant intervened or offered assistance. Their failure to address the situation and ensure the safety of their patrons is deeply concerning.

It's important to stress that no one has the right to invade another person's personal space, especially when it involves children. The fact that such an incident occurred within the premises of Spur Bedford is disheartening. This experience has shattered my confidence in the establishment and raises serious questions about their commitment to customer safety and satisfaction.

I strongly advise against dining at Spur Bedford until they take immediate and concrete steps to address this issue and ensure incidents like these never happen again. If I could give 0 stars I would. Where do I begin? The waitress we got was not very experienced and she spoke so soft we could barely hear her. We ordered 2 drinks and I asked her for a simple cheese and tomato sandwich.. which I had to repeat twice. 30 minutes go by.. no food... family next to us gets their full meals (burgers etc) and we wait... We call another waitress to address the issue and she goes to call a manager. We wait another 15 minutes... We get up and ask for the manager and the bill.. and suddenly there appears our long lost waitress with the sandwich. I said it's fine, give it takeaway we will pay and leave. The manager is very defensive... just the whole time no ma'am please, no ma'am calm down... I was not even making a scene.. I was just irritated. They gave our food and drinks for free, which I thanked them for, but this was horrendous service. Spur Bedford will never see us again... I told the manager that they need to train their staff a bit more as the waitress we got lacked basically all of the waitressing skills. Got to the car and the sandwich was still super hot.. which tells me she forgot to put in the order and when we got frustrated and brought to their attention that we waited so long, they jumped quickly to make a simple sandwich. We were contacted by Mary from Cherokee Spur and dhe advised that they had new staff and that the training had not been done properly regarding the online ordering and she apologized and offered us a free meal.

We went on the 31st December for our free meal, I had my cheddarmelt sauce on steak at long last and it was really good. We all enjoyed our meal and the great service and food that we remembered getting at spur was spot on.

1st review: We ordered online with the new app which I thought was a great improvement on the last app.

However, when my husband went to collect, there was confusion around where the order was until they realized it was an online order? What use is then to order through the app?

When my husband returned with food and I unpacked my order to discover the mushroom sauce had not been packed for the cheddarmelt burger I ordered, really disappointing 😑

My husband and I ate both disappointed in the taste of the burger patty, the basting sauce tasted different and the party looked and smelt like a commercially manufactured burger patty and no longer the hand made good quality burger patties I have associated with Spur.
