Mugg & Bean Mall @ Reds — Restaurant in Gauteng

I was so dissapointed, had a date night there and was looking forward to a relaxed evening. Despite having to take care of only three tables with four waiters, service was slow/ non existent to such an extent that I had to wave my arms to be noticed since one waiter was having a conversation with somebody outside, the other was walking outside with a bucket and the other two were missing in action. We ordered blue cheese and biltong soup and received biltongsoup without said cheese, after asking for it, and adding to the soup it was really tasty. Partner drinks his coffee black, he received twice warm milk with it. I asked for a top up for the bottomless drink and received the wrong flavor. I ended up feeling frustrated with poor customer service and having second thoughts about spending good money for a meal I could have made at home for cheaper and with less effort in a relaxed atmosphere where I do not have to put in any effort to be noticed. This is a pretty standard Mugg and Bean. The outside seating area is very nice in the warmer months as they’ve done the centre quite well. Inside looks cosy and not too cramped but it is a smaller shop. The coffee is standard M&B coffee which is good but I find quite bitter. We found that the service was pretty slow on the day we went despite the shop being fairly empty which is the main reason for the four stars. Generally M&B used to be better value for money in my opinion but still a nice breakfast spot with reasonably priced food and generous portions. I also like that they have vegetarian options and are very willing to make substitutions if need be. Overall I would come here again and just hope the service is...

The service at Mugg & Bean Mall@Reds is clearly outstanding as they were very busy today.

We were served by a trainee waiter, Bianca. She was very friendly, and informative (explaining the items on the menu and re-assuring us during load-shedding). When we requested the bill, we also order something for home. I ordered love and said she can send a hug in my box instead of dessert...

She went through the trouble of writing an uplifting message on a receipt and put it in a take-away box that reads: "Love is all around you. You just need to open your eyes and heart to love. Have a lovely day!"
