My friends and I decided to check out this new restaurant for my birthday this Sunday and wow it was severely underwhelming. Our waiter (Bongani) had to be hunted down to bring a extra glass of wine when I arrived after my friends’ arrival then he had to be prompted also to refill other wine glasses as the table. There was a buffet meant to still be in progress when he rudely said to us “The buffet ends at 5pm so if you’re going to drag your feet it’s gonna be done “ - which to our surprise food was already being packed away by 16:20 ANYWAY after that rude remark. We continued to ask for a menu to then just order food from there since no one was going to fight about the buffet being ended sooner than the prior rude warning of time - prices were the only decent thing that warranted that second star but wow the food came to us COLD. We ordered a platter for 4 which was supposed to have Sirloin steak amongst other meats but this was not sirloin at all but rather fatty and very tough beef and pork portions. After sending the food back to the kitchen to get reheated our meat had been cut into smaller pieces in order to disguise the fact that the portions had been tempered with and meat had been removed- now the inferior beef even tougher than before. Did I mention the meat was barely flavoured/seasoned and was not enjoyable? I won’t even get into the drinks service because at this point I’m just annoyed that I spent almost half a thousand Rands of my money for 1 Star quality service and food and tipped a waiter that spent more time being concerned about the older male demographic and their female companions. I just remembered when it started to get colder my friend wanted to order a hot chocolate which Bongani our waiter dismissed saying the restaurant doesn’t have a hot chocolate machine yet because the restaurant has only been open for 2 months. So why was it on the menu ? And for the prices of things there surely a kettle and milk could suffice to provide this ?
Overall , wouldn’t go back unless they improve and someone convinces me so but it really was a waste of money in my opinion and a dampener for the occasion I had...
Read moreAs “The Man” & I had been studying the construction of this building since we had moved in across the road, naturally we were keen to check it all out once it will see you there open to the public. On a spontaneous whim, I suggested a late lunch on a gorgeous sunny day last week to be had @at that place across the road …I initially had thought we’d go back to the poolside bar/bistro where we had had cocktails for my birthday the prior week - and had perused the menu ( looked very nice !!) but “The Man” wanted to check out the restaurant which was physically a couple of levels down from the pool, but still could sit inside or out. Now knowing the name of it and know that there is a no of them - one being in Midrand, we were being well informed by this delightful hostess-Noluntu aptly nicknamed “Mother Nature” as she totally took care of us from welcoming , taking our orders , retaking the man’s order several times ( as unfortunately the kitchen as yet is not quite up to speed with the menu - so didn’t quite have all the makings for the meals indicated ) but it didn’t faze us one but . The drinks were out of this world - ambience and genuine friendly service you just can’t fake. We didn’t and haven’t come to expect 5 star cuisine particularly in newly opened establishments. But effort goes a long way and that most certainly gains the 5+ and our...
Read moreWe were in Perere Oceans mall in Umhlanga on the 25 February 2024 evening, ordered some African cuisine as our Dinner Samp, beef and oxtail stew which comes with 2 sides and starch each meal.. we got only samp starch for these 2 dishes very creamy and nice and only dry cabbage as a side while its supposed to be 2 each ... then we opened the beef stew my god it was rotten few minutes after we got to our hotel the stew was boiling on its own the smell terribly awful... That was a bad experience we had all the way from JHB ... that was a serious health concern , there is no way that the Chef didnt smell that stew is rotten as to why still serve it to customers really..maybe a budget cost saving strategy to dish up.rotten food for take away orders as we wont immediately see it till you get to your destination .. and because we had to leave to Jhb we didnt get time to return back to the restaurant for a formal complaint
Theres no option to post the boiling rotten stew here as evidence of kaak food we ordered.... probably it was old microwaved to us while they say they serving fresh food
