Ribs & Burgers Nicolway — Restaurant in Gauteng

The bustle of Nicolway Centre is truly felt while sitting at Ribs and Burgers on a Sunday afternoon. We were warmly welcomed and given a table that was booth style. These always work well for families with children who generally need a little more space for strewn chips and messy hands! It may be an outdated practice to have paper and crayons for kids to use because of all the technology nowadays, but as parents it’s always a bonus!

The paper menus highlighted the many different burgers (which all sound delicious) as well as various rib options. We waited for someone to take our order, and after approximately 15 mins (it was really busy) the ordering system was explained to us. Place your order and pay at the counter, get a number and your food is delivered to your table. I felt it would have been helpful to have this stated on the menu, or on a sign next to the queuing area.

After a short wait our lunch arrived and looked delicious! We forgot to order chips as these are separate side items. The waiter arranged these very graciously and quickly without us having to go back into the queue.

My daughter enjoyed her Butchers Original Burger although the Crispy Chicken Burger was a little dry according to her sibling. The BBQ Pork St Louis Ribs which I ordered were drenched in the stickiest, tastiest sauce - tender and a real treat! Towelette’s would have been a welcome and necessary addition. The Old School Cheese Burger was good and the fries a hit with all four of us. The girls had Cookies and Cream milkshakes which they loved while the Devils Peak Lager satisfied the thirsty husband.

All in all the atmosphere is great, the staff very friendly and the food is good value for a hungry family needing a break from shopping...

The food wasn't too bad. Ribs not especially great but the burger was...however that's secondary. The service left a sour taste in the mouth. I was there with 3 friends. On ordering drinks we told the waitress that when she returns with the drinks we'll give her the food order. What a wait. During that wait we saw her being summoned for taking food over to other patrons without the cutlery. When she did bring our drinks she promptly left without taking our order. Having waited another 10 minutes I had to go to the front and ask someone to come take our orders. When the food did eventually come they brought one set of cutlery...for four of us...and the set was dirty so we had to ask someone to get a a clean set for everyone. We were served by 3 different people because it seems these guys can't keep track of what's going on. They LOVE their Uber Eats and takeaway customers though. That seems like priority number one.

Then we wanted to order dessert. Man...we should've know. They didn't have the items listed in the menu: no sticky toffee pudding, no brownies...no ice cream. We eventually had their milkshakes which were just ordinary.

For a spot in a premium location we definitely should've received better service. We left feeling like we might as well have gone to Maboneng. The Joburg food experience just keeps...

Hi. Last time(2021) when i had dinner at Ribs&Burgers and all was in order. Beef rips was juicy and chips was perfeft. after 1 year, it seems they dropped quality a lot. Chips was cold and rips was dry and not tasty at all. I am sure that rips was waiting quite long time on side and it was pre cooked. I didn't bring the managers attention because i was very hungry and i had no time. Not sure if i ll give another try because i have no money and time to waste. So count one is gone. Who? Customer?!!! Update: Replies is sweet to here.Paint a nice pink color for review readers eyes...Any return my personal mail by owner. Guess what? Of course not😂So, now ,everything is clear. If owner wont give a damn about customer then why should kitchen staff or manager would care?.. Big mess. No problem. Won't visit again and make sure not my friends and families too. Cheers... #update# We are there again at 19th June. R250 voucher provided by management which was great. I ll thank them for their customer care. Food was good and service was ok. We thank you so much for your great customer service. I hope we wont have same issues again in future. So...
