RocoMamas Kolonnade — Restaurant in Gauteng

I’ve had uncounted combo plates from Roco Mamas across the country. From bland to too hot, to please add that and that. I’ve enjoyed the same combo gumbo of wings+ribs for plus 8 yrs. THIS ONE WAS TOP WORSE. Wings were curry cooked I’ve never seen wings tossed in tomato gravy…. Slap chips were double the portions Ribs were countable 8 over cooked, possibly warmed over fire… My darling ranch was missing… No side plate to toss my bones I can’t eat and toss in the same plate I’m not a grinch…

I’ve never complained though because I understand besides being a Karen, I can possibly ruin someone’s day… I gave the food to someone as a take away, they appreciated it more than anything. So at least the cook didn’t get nasty complaints, someone ate.

Kolonnade Roco Mamas??? You’re letting the name down! Visit other Roco Mamas, learn how to plate and rock your plates…

Also the black plate you dished for me in looked like it never saw a dishwashing liquid!!💔💔

I love Roco Mamas but you guys need more training! No bad feeling I’m just not even pleased… no wonder...

The last time we went to this restaurant it was an absolute nightmare. The food server assigned to our table didn't know much about personal hygiene around food.

The person in charge of the restaurant also didn't know much about managing people or a business for that matter.

Fortunately all that has now changed. There is a new manager Susan and she knows what the previous person didn't know.

The food servers have also been changed. Today we celebrated a birthday and we got exactly what we ordered plus some personal attention from the manager.

The food was well prepared, our food server Mahlatsi was on top of his game. He made absolutely sure what we required before he went to the kitchen with our order.

It didn't take a long time to get our food. We got as we ordered. No deviations. So the order was right, the first time.

So a big hurrah to Susan the manager and to Mahlatsi. We will go back to Rocco...

Not such a great Rocomamas experience, which is strange, because I've not been disappointed with the several branches I've visited. This branch seems like an unfortunate exception in the brand, with a different atmosphere to any other branch. Floors are dirty, fries arrived cold, food was presented poorly, and portion sizes for the chicken strips were very poor. Bathrooms were not maintained or cleaned, and the soap dispenser was ripped off the wall on the ledge behind the toilet. And I saw more than one cockroach during my time there. The waitress was very friendly, however, and apologized for the wait for the ice-cream machine. The waffles were delicious! Crispy and not over-sweet, and perfectly paired with ice-cream. Mixed experience, with definite room for...
