This Spur is generally a nice one to go to but the 9th of September I was not impressed with the lack of product knowledge from the manager and my waiter. On the 9th I took my son to Spur Mall of the South because it was his birthday and he was turning 15, I ordered a double portion fish and chips for myself which the fish lacked flavour and taste (it was just bland and very tasteless),after we ate I let them know that it was my son's birthday so they could sing for him, shame you could see from most of the waiters that the singing of the happy Birthday to customers is a painful tedious process for them... Some of them even walked away while the song was still playing... Only a few make an effort to be in the moment, after the singing I asked my waiter Sdumo what happens now that my child is 15... Does he get a birthday voucher or not... He said he would have to download his own spur app to get a voucher but he called his manager because he wasn't sure, Thabile the manager came and also explained that my son would now need his own spur app since he is now 15 or over the age of 12 if I wanted a voucher (she explained very confidently) luckily we had my son's phone so we proceeded to download the app on his phone and captured his details which the app rejected stating that he needs to be 18 years old, for me this was disappointing because it looked like Thabile was just an acting manager who was just clueless about the product of her store, when the waiter returned I told him and he blatantly told me that doesn't know anything app related hence he called the manager, I asked him why was he wearing the Spur uniform if he was clueless about the product, what shook me was how comfortable he was in telling me that he doesn't know anything🤕, I asked him to call his manager back and I showed her the rejection from the app and she said oh yes he needs to be 18 and now she remembers, so I asked her what now since he is still a dependent under my family card, she said for now till he is 18 he belongs nowhere and will not be receiving any birthday vouchers which I think is absurd! If this is the current policy Spur will need to revisit this since it is a family restaurant and rather hand out instore vouchers for such occasions.
On that night the service was fast interms of receiving our food because it wasn't packed but we came out late because Sdumo would leave us for a long time without coming to the table, when we needed to receive the bill we asked the manager for one and someone else brought us the bill without capturing the family card which had my birthday voucher.... I asked him where our waiter was and he said he had gone to the toilet..... (For such a long time??) And I asked him why he captured our bill without the family card off which by now I was already annoyed by the micky mouse service we were getting..... Just...
Read moreA Fantastic Experience: Great Value and Service at Spur! We recently visited Spur and decided to take advantage of their Senior Meal Menu, and we were thoroughly impressed! The value offered is simply outstanding. For a very reasonable price, the senior meal includes a generous serving of schnitzel with your choice of sauce topping, accompanied by a selection of sides (we chose chips and fried onion rings), a cold drink, and a delicious ice cream for dessert 🍨 What really made the experience special was the attentive management and staff. They checked in regularly to ensure everything was to our satisfaction, which added a lovely personal touch to the service. The initiative from the Spur brand to offer this menu and honor senior citizens is genuinely awesome and much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the warm atmosphere. Highly recommended for all senior citizens looking for a quality...
Read morenot a food review but....the manager with short hair and a cut there is sooo rude. I was going around dropping CVS and super super nerves, got there and introduced myself well and the manager told me I'm not fit to work there, not knowing if it's how I look or what, explained that I have worked in the kitchen before and she called others to laugh at me for that, stating that "this is spur" implying that they get busy and I could never handle that, without even giving me a chance to explain myself. I went back home after that feeling all types of way. Only to find out that I'm not the only one she has done that too :( She never got to where she is by being criticized but by being given the chance to show herself. Well there was a waiter that was so friendly, she also called...
