The experience on my 2nd time back here was a complete opposite to my first. On Saturday night, I truly experienced the 5 star service that this establishment is famous for
My gorgeous fiancé and I had an 8pm reservation, which we arrived about 20min late for. The restaurant was understanding enough to hold our reservation even though they seemed a bit busy on the night
This restaurant has a great ambiance about it, perfect for those romantic dinner dates with the Mrs or a loved one whom you want to impress.
Our waiter for the night, Elliott, was perfect service personified. His warm smile and friendly demeanour is welcoming and makes you feel at home and like you're the only client. The last time we came here, it was a busy night but it seemed like they were a bit understaffed, it was great to see that the staff numbers were more and this enabled each and every patron to get quality service, befitting of such an amazing restaurant
We started our night of with a drink order. A simple Castle Lite and Tonic n Lemonade for us. The drinks arrived with a minute or so-my Castle was perfectly extra cold and my fiancé's Tonic n Lemonade was just as perfect.
For starters I had their Miso Wings and my fiancé had the calamari heads. The wings were down right finger licking good and the calamari heads were appetising.
We followed with the mains of Pork Medallion and Chicken Pasta. My pork was succulent and had perfect seasoning and my fiancé couldn't stop raving about how delectable and flavoursome her pasta was. These mains, how they were prepared, really had us feeling the upmarket ambiance this restaurant radiates. In between our mains, we ordered more drinks and they were brought to us quickly and cold and that really added more enjoyment to our night
We rounded of the night with a delicious Chocolate Fondant which put an even bigger smile on our faces. The chocolate didn't ooze out as much as we would have liked, but that little oozing we had was complimented perfectly by the cake and the delicious ice cream it's served with.
We really enjoyed ourselves and our 2nd visit to The Grill really made us agree that we will be having many more dinner dates here. Actually, we'll be recommending it to our friends and colleagues confidently. And yes, we did the right thing at the end of the night and tipped Elliott generously for his excellent treatment...
Read moreMy colleague and I dined at this restaurant on 5 nights during our stay at Birchwood Hotel. The first 4 nights were great in terms of service. Food was nice (but not great). I can rate the food at 3.5/5 but the service we received from Lisa was 5/5 and was the biggest part of the reason why we kept dining there. Lisa's friendliness, attention to details and professionalism is a client-winner and I hope the management sees that. She went from table to table with the same smile and reassuring gestures. The restaurant itself is very cozy and nice. It is a 4/5. A tad of attention to table cleanliness and sturdiness (ours was so unsturdy) will put it to 5/5. We had 4 nice nights at this restaurant but on day 5 we had a different waiter. After we ordered, he just walked by, not a word and put a brown paper bag and a buttery side on our table. We didn't order take out, so we waited thinking he made a mistake. Later, during the order of our mains, we were told this was complimentary bread and butter. The same complimentary we were served on a plate with a bit more dignity on the first 4 nights when the restaurant was way busier than day 5. We sent it back. Indeed it is complimentary but if it cannot be served properly, better not serve it... paper bag at a dining table,,,, seriously?? And a chipped wine glass to top it up. In this experience, I learnt that great service can make a whole lot of a difference and chapeau to Lisa for the excellent service and for paying our table a little visit at the end of day 5's dinner. It made...
Read moreThis has been on my want to go places for a while now, and we finally visited. It's a lovely place for date night/day. The deco is great, not too chilled, and not too fancy. It has that nice balance to it. Anyway, we ordered a cookies and cream milkshake and a Chai latte then we had the livers for starters, and it was so good that we would have licked the plate if it were acceptable, and we ate it with our complimentary bread and butter. For mains, we ordered the Lamb shank with mash, and our waiter was kind enough to advise that it was big enough for two people to share, and it definitely was. It was a delicious, hearty meal. We were so full from it that we had no space for dessert, overall, and fantastic experience. The food is a bit pricey, but you're paying for good food, so I'd definitely...
