This place is not even worth the one star that had to be noted to give this review.
Abhorrent Service and Disgusting Food - Hyde Park
I've had the most horrendous service at Hyde Park Vegan Chef.
The staff are abhorrent. The food is disgusting. It took over 20min to receive my bottle of water, with no staff in sight to even enquire why it was taking so long. I had to ask the spa staff at Natlife to assist me.
I was the only person there, so it wasn't that the place was bustling to cause the delay.
When my guests arrived (2 people), we placed the order. It took over an hour to receive the food for two sandwiches and a smoothie. Once again, no staff in sight to enquire. Almost 1 hour (50 to 55 minutes) later, I had to go to the kitchen to find out what was happening. The food was not made, I asked the waitress to cancel the smoothie order as I had to leave for my next appointment, but my guests will remain and to serve their order. She outright lied to me and said the food was ready and the smoothie made. So I asked for the smoothie to be placed in a takeaway cup. 12 minutes passed waiting outside the kitchen for the smoothie to be put into a take away cup. Getting even more frustrated now, I went into the kitchen after about 15min later when I heard the blender start up. The staff (only 2 waiters) had blatantly lied and said the smoothie was ready, making me wait 15 plus minutes to takeaway when in fact, it wasn't even made. The is no chef, so who prepares the food that is definetly not as per the amazing adverts?
After getting stroppy with me the waitress angrily dumps the water consistency liquid in a cup and in anger hands it to me with a lot of unpleasant words said, when I tell her this is not a smoothie and looks different from Benmore and Fourways.
I leave with this cup; I had to return back to the kitchen upon tasting it as it was tasteless, watery with no flavour and definitely not worth the sink it was thrown into and the unpleasant words the waitress exchanged when I returned the full cup back to her.
My guests informed me the sandwhiches were ice cold, the mayo was cold, the chicken contents was cold when they eventally received it; seems it was served straight from the fridge to the plate.
Is this how you treat your customers?
We were the only table there (3 people), heaven forbid if vegan chef has a full house!!!
Imagine the reputation of the spa being impacted by the stroppy service received by Vegan Chef, by association? I wonder if Natlife spa is aware of the implications of Vegan Chef's atrocious service on their brand?
I have been a return customer, despite recieving poor service from Fourways, however I will not be back to Vegan Chef after this experience and I will definitely not recommend it to anyone going forward. The experince received has made a loyal customer that overlooked previous bad service, to an attitudinal customer and a lost customer.
It is a pity that your review comments are turned off on your Facebook page, so more public awareness can be available on the lackadaisical and rude, almost zero service experience future customers should anticipate to receive, with quality of the food fluacting on the mood of the waiters...
