Saki Sports Bar — Restaurant in Msunduzi Local Municipality

Have been a Saki fan for years man. It’s always our last stop before we go home. So yesterday after we had a dinner party elsewhere, we went to Saki for 2 rounds of drinks (we obviously had more rounds of drinks), and which was fine. The problem started when we got our last rounds, we’d order and we’d see it on the screen and pay. But we’d have to wait for our drinks and on the receipts by the barman it only show 3 drinks per time and the savanna didn’t show. The barman sort of accused me of lying and I kept on defending myself and that we had paid for it until I just gave up (mind you I was the designated driver and had been explaining to him that I am very sober and obviously he gave me that look 👀 🥵). The waiter later brought the drink to our table and apologized and that’s when I was just a bit over them. Okay, then the last round of drinks, we had 4 shots, Hennessy, a jug of beer and tequila shots (which apparently didn’t show on the barman’s slip), again I had to fight for my last 2 shots and again was accused of lying. The manager came through and was not of assistance (shook his head and threw his hands hands on the air and walked away).

I was told to look around for the waitress again to come sort it out (had to run around like a headless chicken cos she was nowhere to be found), 5 hours later she comes and clears the matter with the barman and the manager (who later apologized) and gave us our tequila shots (but he made it feel like it was a favor but we paid for it 🥵). He didn’t give us salt or lemon and just gave us tequilas as they are. Visiting family in Howick and having heard that you guys make great sushi whilst in pmb made our way to you for some lunch, my partner enjoyed a few draughts while I ordered a Margarita to start my Day - this was sad as the glass was half empty and just a few shards of ice, you guys have the flavours right but presentation wise so disappointing. I then ordered a brutal fruit which was brought to me at room temp and I had to ask for ice the waiter was accommodating and sorted this out for me. Being put off I decided let me just order one plate of sushi to start and take it from there I ordered a prawn volcano from your specialty menu - again disappointed as my rice was under cooked and prawns rubbery and dry. I also had to ask for soya sauce and although it was brought to me almost 10mins later I had to make a plan for pour it as no dipping bowl was given (see attached photo). Honestly guys coming from a hospitality background you are sitting on a gold mine with small issues that could be easily fix. Disappointing but I hope you will take these factors into consideration...

The food is of good quality but this past weekend my girlfriend and I along with my cousin and her husband were attacked by the white staff whilst exiting the toilet facilities. My girlfriend was pushed viciously and I then tried to defend her and was choked until I passed out. I am not certain if it was an attack because of our race me being indian and my girlfriend black or if that's the general behaviour of the staff there. Was taken aback, I will suggest if you do decide to visit Saki be very careful especially if you are not white.
