I would like to start this review by stating that this was based on my personal experience. I can see that a lot of people have enjoyed eating at this place, but I did not. I ordered a bacon-cheese-guacamole burger mainly because my girlfriend and I were eating seafood almost every night and was feeling for something different. Boy was I disappointed when my burger came. The patty was a frikkadel and not a good one (again, this is my opinion of the food I received.) Being given a frikkadel was really disappointing, I did not expect that from this place at all. secondly, the bun was really soggy (from the juicy patty) now before you argue with me, it really doesn't take a lot of effort to toast your buns to prevent the whole thing from falling apart. (Steers can do this, I don't see why your chef can't) Furthermore, there was this bunch of T's and C's on the wall which really put me off (I only read them after ordering) which I can tell that the owner obviously receives a lot of negative feedback and a lot of the same types of complaints. For the owner to make this silly T's and C's was really just a joke for me. Buddy, how the hell can you expect to improve customer experience if you can't take being criticised? Use the criticism as a means to do better the next time, don't just write it off because you think your restaurant is perfect. Read moreWhat a dreary place. A view of the harbour and ocean but not a single piece of fresh seafood on the menu. I requested to have a look at a portion of kabeljou. It was probably frozen to perfection but appeared thawed to a grey dullness. Opted for the hake chowder after being told it is a full portion. The hake was dissolved into a mushiness along with the potatoes, onions and the whiff of the waiteress's cheap perfume. My parter tried to save me with some of her greasy calamari and chips. The food is not worth paying for.
The wine list and prices made us laugh. A selection of some of the worst the Cape has to offer. What stood out was a wine described by the waitress as a mix between a red and a white wine (don't think rose). Think mixing a bottle white with a bottle red and crinch in sanctimonious sacrilege. Truly horrible.
Towards the end of the meal the waitress was in good spirits. We enquired. The staff got word they have an early evening and could go home earlier then expected. I was happy for them but felt their lack of a commitment detrimental to my experience. Most of the quests heard this and left soon afterwards.
The food is of dubious quality, the staff underpaid, lack training and view customers as a burden. The owner absent and his attitude probably a reflection of the entire miserable joint. I see some good reviews on here. Either intoxicated patrons or people not use to much better.

Read moreEvery time visiting Kabeljoe's is a huge disappointment. The service is horrendous and getting worse by the day. On Sunday the 27th March at 12:00 we arrived. It took a long time just to get a menu. Thereafter we had to wait one and a half hour for our food. Although the restaurant was not full, a staff member by the name of Selma mentioned that the kitchen could not keep up with the demand. Apparently management did not make enough provision for kitchen staff and waiters. And to crown it all, the food was average and certainly not worth the extremely long wait. Although we ordered the same dish there was no consistency in the content and quantity. Do yourself a favour and give it a pass!! There is better value for money higher up in Harbour Road. And from the personal attack from the owner, the quality of management and the attitude towards customers are apparent. A personal attack is easier than fixing the problem.
