Very poor experience at M&B. My first time visiting and I got asked to move my table twice. When I arrived a took a table in the middle of the restaurant waiting my turn to take one of the tables against the wall for the socket (working on my laptop). Two people at the back of the wall made two tables one after the people next to them left (which made a 2 seater a 4 seater). I then proceeded to a booth (4/6 seater - after the party of 3 oocupying the booth left) and got asked to move tables after 30min and sit at a table/booth behind me with another older single white gentleman. I informed them that I am not comfortable and if they have asked the gentleman if it was okay, to which they proceeded to say ''I'm sure he wouldn't mind'' after 30 more min I got approached by the manager (to which at this point my laptop was packed away and I enjoyed my coffee) got asked again to move my seat for a bigger party to be seated in the booth as I was a single person and would be offered a free coffee, (to which I presume the white single gentleman behind me was not asked to move seats yet again). I rushed my coffee and advised I will rather leave after being asked to move twice, which I perceive as borderline racial profiling with only a handful of people of color being seated at the time. This made the experience very poor for me... I waited my turn for a table with a socket to be free, so should any other party who walked into the restaurant after me nor should anyone be asked to join tables with another customer, since this question wouldn't have been asked if I possibly was an older white single gentleman. Read moreWe recently received a coffee voucher from a car wash for Mug & Bean Hermanus. When we arrived, we politely asked if we could have the coffee as a takeaway since we still had a lot of shopping to do. The waiter was absolutely wonderful—she explained that the voucher was normally for sit-down only, but said she would check if something could be done. She came back with a smile and kindly offered to accommodate us. We were so impressed with her customer service and positive attitude that we even considered coming back after shopping to have a proper meal.
Unfortunately, this experience took a complete turn. As we were leaving the shop, a man (who appeared to be the manager or owner, Japie van Zyl) stopped us in the middle of the mall and very loudly scolded us in front of other shoppers, as if we were children. He told us in a rude, condescending tone that this was “against the rules” and made a scene over something we had no prior knowledge of. We were so shocked and embarrassed by his behavior that we took the coffees straight back.
No customer should ever be treated this way—especially when the misunderstanding wasn’t even ours to begin with. We had done nothing wrong, and the situation could have been handled professionally and privately. Because of this unprofessional and humiliating interaction, we will never return to Mug & Bean Hermanus, and we certainly cannot recommend...

I decided to return for a fresh start where I forget that they didnt even apologise to me. I was reminded today on how their service will remain bad and the management/staff are the same. Rude and insulting me by saying I am back where I said that I wont come back. That I am a problem. I never been insulted by anyone like I been insulted by them. After I waited to be served for 2 hours. No waiter asking me if they can assist. Being ignored. I remained seated for I knew there is a camera and management can see how I was ignored. Not that management cared. I am anyway a problem in his eyes so why should he care. Even when I got emotional about how I was treated and talked to by management did they care to be of assistance. I never been so humilated and I dont deserve being treated in this manner by anyone. Especially not where I was a loyal custoumer. I can see there is no point in supporting someone restaurant that doesnt give the service I need. Even if I only drink one cup of coffe in 2 hours. I am definitely not a problem.
