Nossa Casa — Restaurant in Roodepoort

Decided to try this out on women's day, but it disappointed. 🫡

Specialising in Portuguese food, we ordered chicken. The tables along the side were reserved so we had to settle for a table in the middle which was fine however the doors were left wide open and people were feeling cold.

The food we ordered came cold after asking for them to make sure we have warm food. The chips were soaked in oil and lay drab and cold on the plate 🫤. The bread with Choice butter on a plate was short on quality. The coffee was but four sips 😔.

People were entering the restaurant and left in the front, no one was attending to them.

My suggestions are: Do not book tables when there are customers walking in continuously looking for a place to come eat. Have someone welcome guests warmly as they enter and show them to a table. Look after the clients you have indoors by keeping them comfortable (close the large doors and keep them warm in winter), if you are concerned that this will stop people from coming in, have a staff member on the outside in the cold, welcoming them to the restaurant. More attention to quality of food that if you want to keep people coming back. Even if it is the special during the week. If tables are reserved, use a reserve sign and not a '4 pax' on a piece of paper and placed on the table. Ensure that you have well-trained and experienced staff to handle the restaurant - an owner is not omnipresent.

We sent our cold food back, paid for our drinks and had a delicious meal at Benitas a few shops down. We were better off and so were those who we saw there too who were turned away because tables were reserved.

Please relook at the entire restaurant. It can be a place for people to return to if you focus on what people want. Those that want a takeaway may accept this, but not those looking for a good quality meal and...

I am going to be as honest as I can. If the owner does not clean up his act , unfortunately this place will not make it as there is much competition with the so many eating places. There is a total disconnect between the staff , kitchen and owner. I saw a total of at leaste 10 or more people leave. u sit and u don't even know the table is reserved because they have a piece of paper flat on the table saying reserved. Unprofessional. No one to see the people when they come to the front door. The service is slow and of bad value. the food comes cold , the plate is Cold , the coffee at 30 rand tiny cups so u can order more.the foods quility is not good, ,I heard people compliaing around us. What I see is a sausage factory pushing to make cash. If u have quality and take the focus off the profits , the money will come in on its own. The food is like a fast food outlet . As a food critic , which food is my passion i rate this a 1 . I ordered chicken with specific instructions, so dry inside. The people that were turned away were fortunate cause they went else were , were we went and saw them at the other place. Food is a very fine line. Staff badly trained. My Wife and i have been frequenting Nossa Casa for over a year, it has quickly become our preferred destination for portuguese cuisine incl seafood. The owner Nelson, Managers Michael & Stella and their entire Staff [incl Portuguese speaking waiters] are simply off the charts amazing. Being truly entrenched restauranteurs, they deliver consistent quality service and food in a welcoming environment. So impressed are we with Nelsons establishment, we decided to have my Wife's birthday dinner which included 43 guests. The forward planning, menu design, seating arrangements with name tags, wine & champagne selection, allocated waiters, theme confirmation & aligned coloured balloons, flower arrangements, birthday cake was clearly discussed with sheer professionalism--the evening was a massive success and every aspect was perfectly executed by this special Team. Our Family and Friends thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, food and service and have started frequenting this restaurant too. Thanks and well done to the entire Team and a special mention to Michael, Stella and Staff for the flawless delivery, what an evening we enjoyed.
