We were four girls on holiday and initially felt hopeful about the place. We arrived around 10 pm on a Tuesday night. It was fairly quiet at first, but people started arriving shortly after us and the vibe was picking up.
A friendly barman welcomed us and sorted out our drinks, which we appreciated. We then moved to the game room to play some pool, but unfortunately, the atmosphere quickly shifted.
As we approached the pool table, we were told by the bar lady that drinks weren’t allowed near the table. Fair enough, but just a few moments later, a bouncer came over to repeat the exact same rule. It felt a bit unnecessary and overly strict, especially since we had just arrived at the table and hadn’t even settled in yet.
The biggest letdown of the evening was the attitude from the bar lady. Later on, as the venue got busier and noisier, we politely asked if the music could be turned up slightly because we could barely hear the lyrics. She responded with clear irritation and flat out said no. When I mentioned that a friendlier response would’ve gone a long way, I was met with a sarcastic apology that just felt dismissive. It completely killed the vibe for us and added to the sense that we weren’t really welcome there.
We ended up playing a few rounds of pool and then decided to leave. Honestly, we probably would’ve stayed longer and enjoyed the rest of the night if it hadn’t been for the rude attitude. The venue definitely has potential and we did enjoy the pool games, but unfortunately the service left a sour taste and really impacted our...
Read moreThe pizzas are really good, and the service not always so great, but it has improved... I must say hats off to the cleaning staff for being very patient with the under the influence people at Watergat and always keeping the tables, floors and bathrooms clean..respect 🫡
The bouncers are on point for keeping everyone as safe as possible 👉 Tata and Paul deserve a gold 🏅
Alot of parking space outside with security guards looking out for people's safety and their vehicles.
It's just so disappointing to see that people do not care about the people working outside, if it rains or if it's windy or even very cold, they are always on duty and minimum people tip them... PS. Tip the security guys!!
Keep a lookout for the staff at watergat that's appointed as "police" .. they don't know that there are actually people who care about other people and that they do tip staff members for what they are doing.. don't get kindness confused with your small brained thinking and accusing everyone of drug dealing, causing them to lose their jobs and not being able to provide for...
Read moreHORRIBLE Customer service! The blonde lady in the front is extremely rude and unwelcoming to Paying customers. I have never been treated worse in my life at a place to whose income I contribute. Considering that during December Holidays, Langebaan becomes a place a lot of younger people go to enjoy themselves, Watergat is an absoloute NO. The alcohol, bathrooms, service and overall cleanliness of this resturant is not up to standards. The bar does not provide sufficient facilities to accomodate the amount of people allowed in the resturant, most of us did not even have a place to sit most of the night. Rumours spread quickly and I have concluded that a lot of young people who regularly visit Langebaan will never visit Watergat again because of the manner in which you are treated by their staff. Being yelled at and disrespected is definitely not my idea...
