We stayed at Villa Paradiso in Langebaan in early Feb 2017, we had one hour to go through an inventory and let the Langebaan holiday homes office Know of any defects, we reported several broken windows in the property and some missing cutlery. We stayed for 5 days and in all that time no one visited to review or repair the broken windows. If Langebaan holiday homes are aware of defects like broken windows, they should leave a note in the property to that effect, saving customers from having to report these issues, as cleaners must notice and report these problems on every visit there. Our other problem was we only had one key to the villa and gate between 8 people which did sometimes pose a problem when we split up to do different things, Langebaan holiday homes suggested hiding the key outside, which we didn't really want to do with all our possessions in the villa, can I suggest at least two sets of keys to be provided for larger parties of adults. The villa itself was large and spacious and brightly decorated and offered plenty of seating and rooms to relax. There were several domestic appliances that had seen better days, especially the washing machine and one of the fridge freezers, but we cleaned them before using them. The position of the villa was excellent and a short walk to the local deserted beach, the views from the upstairs bedrooms and from the verandas was stunning and you could hear the roar of the sea, which was lovely. Our main dispute which caused upset to some of our party was the owner of the next door villa had three dogs, every time one of our party were on the veranda or walking to the outside laundry area, the dogs barked insesently and jumped up the very low wall, they appeared very aggressive. This was not just a one off but happened six or seven times a day which was very upsetting. We did report this to Langebaan holiday homes and they said they were aware of the dogs, but as the next door property was owned, they didn't have much control, but they would try and contact the owner. We did express our dissatisfaction and said that renters should be made aware of this on the sites particulars. We did enjoy our stay and on our return home, we have had problems receiveing our security deposit back, this apparently is because we paid by international bank transfer, which Langebaan holiday homes don't appear to be set up to do in reverse. One month on we are still waiting for this to...
Read moreBe careful with this company. They are dishonest and exploit clients. We rented a house through them. Alet was very helpful with the booking, collecting the money, etc. We needed a big house, so we found a suitable size for our party of 10. Within the first day we identified many many maintenance problems, from broken toilet brush, broken shower rubbers (resulting in water puddles in bathrooms), broken/loose tap handles, tap shooting out water on top and not bottom, broken and extremely dangerous plug at kettle in kitchen, broken handle on toaster, malfunctioning gourmet oven, TV in room not working at all, unaccessible (locked behind chain) DB box after the gourmet oven tripped the power. All these were reported, but the handyman they got could only sort out a few. After departure Ursula advised us that we have stained furniture. I challenged this because I wanted to see her pictures before and after we were there. The little stains she referred to were there before we came and she could not provide any before pictures. Ursula said she checked the property 3 times before we came. This is a blatant lie, because if she did, she would surely have noticed at least the most obvious very broken plug at the kettle in the kitchen... How did she miss an obvious fault like that. How did she miss an obvious thing like a TV in the main bedroom not working; all the wires and cables were just hanging loose. Now they have held back more than 40% of our deposit. I have asked for evidence of the costs they incurred to prove the deduction (which is unjustified, anyway), to no avail. Because I can see this is a strategy they use to exploit people by holding back deposits. By the way, I see exactly a similar description by another reviewer of this company. So, beware! At least they should refund my full deposit because we did not receive all the benefits of the house, and they have no evidence that the stains were not there...
Read moreBooked a holiday for my in-laws which turned out to be very poor and a bad experience. Langebaan Holiday Homes advertised a self-catering rental with 4 stars using the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa trademarked stars (TGCSA). I booked and paid for the venue based on the 4-star grading but upon staying at the venue, it was way below a 4 star graded venue. I asked Langebaan Holiday Homes how they got their grading and after many emails it was communicated to me that Langebaan Holiday Homes "provide their own grading". Just imagine if everyone could grade themself- this is absurd and that is why there is a statutory body who is the only body who may provide a star grading. In fact absolutely no type of star may be displayed on a tourism venue unless it was provided by the grading council. I lodged a complaint with the Tourism Grading Council who advised me that Langebaan Holiday Homes "are illegally using the stars.." and that Langebaan Holiday Homes was not even registered with the Grading Council. It’s a criminal offence to portray stars on an advertised tourism venue unless those stars were provided by the SA authority on star grading as per Tourism Act No.3 of 2014.
A company displaying stars which do not meet the Grading council requirements is not good for South African tourism.
A complaint was lodged with the National Consumer Commission (NCC). I also requested a partial refund but Langebaan Holiday...
