High Palms (HPK) kite school — Hotel in Saldanha Bay Local Municipality

After working in Langebaan as a kite instructor 10 years ago and returning every year since to kite I can honestly say this is one of the best guest houses in Langebaan.

Initially we had planned to stay a week but loved the place so much we ended up staying 2 months!

The house is fully equipped as a kite house. Put your wetsuit on in your bedroom, grab your kite from the kit store and walk to the beach........... Once you finish your session there is a hot outside shower and a special area to wash and dry your kit.

Don and Elvira couldn't be any nicer. They literally bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. On the odd days there was no wind we could hire SUP's to play in the small waves off North Beach. I even got to take a couple of foil lessons with Don on the lighter wind days.

The house itself was great! It was very clean and comfortable and had all the facilities needed when on a long stay.

The kite school which is attached to the house has all the latest equipment to take lessons on, rent or buy.

I am very excited by the plans they have for next year and we have already booked our stay for...

I have just spent 3 months here and it was quite magical. Whilst I was here for the kitesurfing, I met many interesting people staying at High Palms. Engineers, teachers, travel agents, house hunters, arms dealers and so on.||JJ and Elvira were just the best hosts and the spacious lounge/diner/kitchen/braii was open for use at all times so one never felt confined to a bedroom!||Cakes were available every day and despite my selfish nature, I was occaisonally able to leave some for the other guests!||I borrowed kites and bikes from the hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Marvellous!||One poor girl had an accident and was instantly whisked off to Cape Town for medical treatment by these superb hosts in their van.||I can recommend High Palms as a base for any activity in/arond Langebaan.||As Tina Turner said,...

Best Bang for the Buck! Seriously! I checked a few kite schools close to our apartment and HPK had the best package. Elvira and J.J. are the owners and both kite surf teachers. So I had the choice between lessons in german with Elvira or with J.J. in english. I paused kite sufing 10 years ago, but J.J. brought me up to speed within my first 2 hour lesson. 3 days followed and in the end I was riding upwind in both directions. Thank you very much for the brilliant teaching. My progress was never faster...anywhere! The equipment was new and in perfect shape. Even the little details, like sun screen and sun glasses, were included. I will definitely go with you guys again! See you next year!...
