My girlfriend and I share a deep love for Greek food—it’s our go-to cuisine when we’re unsure what to eat, whether we’re making it at home, grabbing a quick gyro, or enjoying a meze-style feast.
So, when we heard about the opening of Kiki, a new Greek restaurant, we didn’t walk—we ran!
The interior is beautifully designed—simple yet sophisticated—and immediately set the tone for a great evening.
We started with cocktails: an espresso martini for her and a classic margarita for me. Both were fantastic. While we sipped, we were served some bread with Greek olive oil, herbs, and some of the tastiest olives I’ve had in a long time. A delightful way to begin!
The menu was so tempting that we quickly realized we’d need to come back to try everything. For starters, we went with the fire flatbread and spicy feta dip. Both were solid, though the dip could have used a bit more heat.
Kiki operates with two dinner seatings, and unfortunately, the first seating had polished off all the halloumi—so we’ll definitely be returning for that!
We ordered a second round of cocktails—an Aperol spritz and a Paloma—before moving on to the beef meatballs and dolmades. The meatballs could have benefited from a touch more salt and herbs for freshness, but the dolmades were perfect. My girlfriend made sure to snag most of those!
Next up, we had the baby squid in mermaid sauce, crispy chicken thighs with toum, and the crispy potatoes. The chicken thighs were exceptionally crispy and paired beautifully with the toum, which was outstanding. The pickles on the plate were a bit too acidic for my taste, but that’s a personal preference.
Overall, we had a fantastic evening. The food, the cocktails, and the atmosphere all made for a memorable experience. Kiki has officially been added to our go-to restaurant rotation. Be sure to book in...
Read moreBeautiful interior, and warm, kind service. I had heard mixed reviews of the food from locals, so I came in just for a small meal at the start of their dinner service to see if the food was good enough to bring my clients here for a celebratory meal. I was disappointed to find the Dolmades very dry inside, and the sautéed spinach swimming in oil, and the squid soaked in butter sauce. The elevated prices for small portions would be understandable if the food was at a similarly elevated level. But I didn't find anything (except the interior design) above average. My experience didn't get off to a good start when my server quoted the market price of the sea bass was 375, and then 5 minutes after I placed my order, came back to the table to explain that she made a mistake when she gave me the price, and said the price if I still wanted the sea bass would now be 425. If it were my restaurant, I would have eaten the 50 rand mistake (approx $3), as the order had been placed. I had an amazing dinner at Amare Restaurant the previous night, which hit the target on excellent Mediterranean food (as well as...
Read moreBeen there yesterday and wasn't the easiest to find because Google points to the back of the building where they actually are, and there is only a little sign at the entrance wall where the guard or FOH was standing, there was one dish that was extremely nice and well displayed ( fried zucchini ) the rest, chicken thighs and potato's, spinach and meatballs, where all average ( not bad but certainly not special ) I have to mention that I'm used to go to a Greek restaurant and experience Greek food. This was to me not Greek, perhaps the herbs in the meatballs and potatoes, but is was more like a fusion. Staff was OK, but did not get a connection or a sence of interest of what they where doing. Interior was beautiful, but also not special, especially the bar looked cheap against the rest of the restaurant. Overall a bit underwhelmed after what we heard of it. But for what we spend, I would expect more, so next time I will be at Omelio or Mykonos for...
