Magnolia Social Dining Lounge — Restaurant in Somerset West

Second time staying at Erinvale - and were looking to the food as usual! To our surprise, the previous Oak restaurant had been changed up to the new Magnolia Lounge.

First commendation has to be for all the staff- from the concierge, to waitresses, managers, bar staff - everyone was really outstanding - it seems everyone genuinely loves working there - which gives guests an indication of the quality of the management and owners - rare to find these days!

More importantly: the food. The new Magnolia Lounge has a revamped menu , with almost too many delicious-sounding foods to choose from! We settled on the main portion of beef tacos and chicken pesto pasta. There are also the options to have small plate versions of many of the mains!

Food was outstanding! Tacos were big and had plenty of beef inside - perhaps the beef could’ve done with one minute less in the grill, but flavour was amazing nonetheless and very generous with the meat.

Chicken pasta on the other hand was also delicious! Loads of chicken and massive serving size. Almost enough for two.

My only disappointment about this restaurant is that not many locals know it as being open and available and I feel is often overshadowed by the nearby Lourensford estate and their food offerings!

If you are in the area and looking for delicious food and cocktails (which are abnormally well priced)- I cannot recommend this place enough.

Price wise, cocktails range from R50 to about R100, and food you are looking at R200/person.

I recently celebrated a big birthday at the lounge — and it definitely wasn’t my first time visiting. What a treat! The staff truly went above and beyond to make sure both myself and my guests were well taken care of. Their attention to detail really stood out, and the service overall was excellent. Beyond being friendly, the team was genuinely warm and sincere, which made the evening even more special.

One particularly thoughtful gesture was when they took a film photo during the night and gifted it to me as a keepsake — such a sweet and personal touch.

The lounge itself is incredibly stylish with a calm, relaxing atmosphere — exactly what you need after a long day or week. It's especially cozy in the colder months; the fireplace kept the whole space warm and inviting. The cocktails were fantastic — I felt like I was sipping them on an island somewhere — and the whiskey was even better. The food was great too.

That said, I do want to be honest: the menu is quite limited for those with dietary restrictions, particularly if you're gluten- or lactose-intolerant. It was also a bit confusing that the menu still reflects items from the previous establishment. There was talk of a new menu, but unfortunately it didn’t match what’s currently listed on Google, which disappointed a few guests. If the menu were updated and more inclusive, I’d definitely visit more often.

I had such a great experience at Magnolia Social Club Lounge! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a stylish ambiance that sets the perfect tone for a night out. The views are stunning and really add to the overall vibe of the place.
